It's amazing the excuses some people can come up with to explain away their laziness. Kudos for standing up to him.

I've worked with no-end of people like that - all they do is drag the rest of the team down - i've had no problems getting shot of guys like that and having them fired - why should they get the same amount of pay as me for doing fuck all?

Come be me for a day, theres a few people at my work who need something like that written in for them. One of them is like 100 and looks like Grandma Adams, I think she's a witch, but I'm confident you can take her down - she's had the flu for the last 3 weeks :confused: ​
 
I would consider him a 'kid' as well. I've had to deal with a few of those in my time.
 
That definitely sounds like that person needs to be fired. My boyfriend types like a 10 year old and it's rather annoying. But writing, he never seems to display the same lack of grammatical inclination because he's very intellectually ept. However, I've seen some people working at fast food restaurants just standing around while everyone else is doing work. That kind of thing shouldn't be tolerated! If anything he could have at least tried to,"look busy." And at least get SOMETHING done.
 
Sometimes you just have to put your foot down. Good for you B. If he can't pull his own weight then all he's doing is bringing everyone else down. But don't feel too bad for him. I'm sure there are many fast food establishments that will pick him up and make him a manager before too long. ;)
 
we have some people like this where we work but they only get called in whenwhere desperate for people and even then i wish they would'nt
these guys have been working with us for a year and are just so clueless i just feel like telling them to go home
 
Obviously in-work relationships can be extremely difficult, especially if you feel they are not pulling their weight, and subsequently cause huge tension.

Often in such a situation communication becomes impractical as you know that keeping your self control will be impossible.

But there are other solutions to that of getting them sacked and out of your hair. That solution solves your problems but have you considered the effects on them.

Support and firm supervision would have overcome the problem of someone not doing their job correctly. But then it also requires the presence of management willing to control that sort of situation.

Well that is the intellectual side of my argument; the emotional one is if they don't do their job correctly f***ing sack them. ;)
 
Then later I finished up and told my Manager and he got yelled at. When I saw him before I left, he had the most miserable look on his face. But, I was real happy.
