Thomas Perez elected new Chair of the DNC

But are you right?

Considering he didn't even attempt to dispute any of those points I made, No. Considering if Hillary or another Democrat got in they wouldn't be doing things like banning Muslims, attempting to build a wall, pissing off every other foreign entity possible, etc.

Again I do not believe Democrats are perfect and the party could be a lot better, but to say they are worse for progressives than Republicans, especially when Democrats made more progressive moves in their last term, is a bold faced lie.

Pretty much this.

The 'progressives' who are still so fixated on the Russian fueled hillary hate trap they all just walked into and never walked out of can really just go fuck themselves at this point.

To watch what the Republicans and TrumpCo. are doing to America in less than two months and to still be focused on their obsession with the DNC, instead of spending their fucking time mobilizing at the local and state level is just bizarre.

This desire for some kind of top down revolution, that every centrist Democrat had better sign onto, or else, is why they won't ever win.

What they want is that kind of full revolution with tumbrels and beheadings and chaos like we've seen before.

The danger is that the desire to win will overtake common sense and the left will also turn to destructive demagogues who decide that it is time to tear it all down.

^ it seems they're trying to achieve a tea party style takeover without the Koch's cash.
Is democracy any better with two entirely polarised parties?
Where does it leave your average person if they can't relate with either?

i love all the political speech here from the pro-hillary pro-perez crowd:

we failed and have continued to fail, and we will keep failing you in the future. but for now, we still know what is best for the party, we cant explain why or how, because that would challenge our non-existent principles for which all our lies are built upon and from which all our excuses and opinions are formed. trust us, we know what to do and people should trust that we know what we are doing because we are fighting the 'good fight' that requires us to be constantly outraged and somehow that will translate into electoral success!!

I read this a couple times, just in case I’m having any doubt, and it becomes very clear: You don’t understand what has been going on, and is still happening, with the overwhelming majority of the people in the United States.

I concur that the so called "progressives" posting here have been so smitten by anti HRC rhetoric, courtesy of Putinbots that they have failed to come to terms with their undisguised support for a moron, masquerading as POTUS....

...and we in Greece believe we are being tortured by the fates....god help America!!!

That is really is your own problem, kalliopolis.

^I never discuss my personal problems on a public forum....on the other hand I am happy to discuss those matters that affect the entire planet, despite the unwillingness of a few posters here to come to terms with the election of a moron as POTUS.

Yet you don't bother with attempting to dispute it, without quotes from articles.

I understand wanting a better party and wanting to fix the problems that exist in a party, but all I ever see here from the "progressives" is demonizing the party rather then discussing solutions or people who would be better fit for the party.

I love ignoring right wing things that just love Trump so reminiscent of many gay people in the 1930's who had no clue they were going camping and death rave on duhh

Heck, look at Mussolini, went from zero to hero and then fascist dictator in the space of one election.
Germany definitely had a fractured left wing prior to Adolf gaining power. Did Italy too?

The selection process of our party's leader needs to change. Every Democrat in the House and Senate should have been able to vote for their new leader. I've been in contact with my local House representative, and she told me flat out that no one even bothered to ask her about it.

I, personally, wouldn't have wanted Perez, nor Ellison. The nomination process needs to change, too.

If we want to win back the Rust Belt, we need someone from the Rust Belt, who is in tune with those voters.

We've become nothing but a coastal party and have lost middle America.

Sorry, but the genie is out of the bottle.

Given the opportunity to hate on immigrants, blacks, fags, trannies, the Chinese, Mexico...in fact everyone that poorly educated Americans blame for all their woes...I don't think there's any chance of ever getting them back.

And just in case there's some misapprehension here, I have no animus against the poorly educated people who feel shut out of everything because they thought it was ll theirs as of right. I feel sympathy for them. In the same way as I feel sympathy for everyone in professional fields who find they are being 'Uber'ed' right out of the economy'.

I just don't ever see the Democrats regaining this demo now that TrumpCo. owns them.

The only way they might be brought back into the fold is if their Fuhrer finally kills his mistress and then himself in the White House bunker at the end of it all and they realize that they have been lied to and hoodwinked until their country is devastated, their sons and daughters have all died for a sociopathic monster and they were seized by madness.

Or maybe once they realize that the coal mines aren't going to re-open and that all the factories being re-tooled in the US will be dependant on robotics that they have no idea how to run...and that they no longer have health care insurance....maybe then they will listen to the voices on the left again.

But middle America has a long history of voting against its own self interest because they still believe this stupid Horatio Alger myth that the guy that sweeps the factory floor will end up running the corporation.
How does immigration help those working people you claim to care about?

I would be interested in what you think is happening with that majority.

I’m referring to economics. Election 2016 was about people’s economics—worded as income inequality—and that approximately half of all people with employment are earning $30,000 or less per year. Barack Obama, as the nation’s 44th president, did preside over lower unemployment but also increased poverty. Now, people want solutions. And they want them delivered.

I really, really wanna see Senator Cantwell get a real primary challenge. Talk about vulnerable.

Sawant should give it a shot.

'Inequality" is a democrat war cry. I do not think it is an issue with those who voted for billionaire Trump. Low income, yes, inequality, no.

So Barack Obama presided over lower unemployment (4.9 pct when Obama left office) but also increased poverty???

I wonder how Barack Obama personally managed to increase poverty?
