I've been gone for awhile, what are these bonus points and what do I do with them?

Ahhh ok I've worked out the majority of the bonus point aquisition stuff.
Ok so last night I worked out that after you got your initial bonus point number in each thread, it increased based upon your post number. Eg, you are post #2 (bonus point say of 10) if you are then post #12, you will have a bonus point of 20.
The starting number (excluding initial posters and people under 1000 posts in total) is your thread number plus the X-000 of posts you have made on the forum.
The initial poster bonus # and people under 1000 posts I still can't work out.

edit: well look at that, I just defeated my own starting number theory, it might recycle at some point since the single page threads seem to match up to this.

the recycling is at 43 (or 42 I haven't verified). How to increase in points and how it's recycle is clear, but I haven't got the first number you get when begin a thread.
