Thread of Nonsensical Ramblings

Texas Motor Speedway (because with Dallas-Fort Worth being the sports town it is, if there's a sport, we have a stadium of some sort for it)...But TMS wants to have basically one hell of a jumbotron. It would stand 218ft wide by 95ft tall, and would basically put the ABC News SuperSign at Times Square to shame. It would be the largest video screen in existence.

While trying to find out whether ear wax is alcoholic I found out that there is an east-west divide: Europeans and Africans have moist, honey-coloured earwax while in Asians it is said to be grey and dry. This is a recognised ethnographic marker. I regularly need my left ear syringed because it gets bunged up and squelchy, but the wax in the other one just falls out on the pillow in little dry pellets. So maybe I'm of mixed heritage: European on the left, Asian on the right. The posh word for ear wax is cerumen, which doesn't make it any less revolting.

Well it turns out that the body does produce alcohol all by itself. It's got the sugar and it's got the yeast and the result is called endogenous ethanol. There's nothing especially tipsy about ear wax though. If there were, someone would probably have spotted its commercial potential long ago. They'd mix it with whisky and ginger flavouring and flog it as an after dinner tipple at Christmas. A bit like Bailey's.

Beer is good for making slug traps. You sink a yoghurt pot in the ground, fill it up at night and it's like happy hour at Yates's Wine Lodge. But then you have to empty it out and then you know how the Police and the paramedics must feel in Romford on a Friday night scooping up the drunks.

Jos luv, you know I've been a huge fan since your first single 'Everything I Do' came out. But bloody hell man, didn't it cross your mind to do a sound check before that one? Were the neighbours out? I've had a constant ringing in my ears all evening. If that's your feminine side I hope I'm not in the line of fire what you let your inner beast off the leash.

When Nigel Kennedy played with his Polish band at the Proms a few years ago they gave out earplugs to the audience. Apparently that's quite usual at rock concerts. Why don't they just play quieter? And why is the sound in cinemas so ear-splitting? Apart from the cost that's the main thing that puts me off the cinema. Most films these days seem to consist of nothing but explosions and manic special effects anyway.Take in a film? I'd rather take in washing.

My new replacement phone came in Tuesday, and I've just today had a chance to really sit down and set it up the way I want it set up. I've literally done nothing all day, but just trick out my phone.

My apps set up the way I want them.
My home screens set up the way I want them, complete with customizable app dock.
Custom Ringtones for each person on my contacts list.
Custom-made icons for a couple apps (just because I didn't particularly care for theirs.
Custom notification sounds
I've set it up for custom voice recognition.
And I've set it up for text to speech, to where the phone talks back to me.
