so i've never really shopped at a thrift shop but they are amazing!!! i went with my friend today and i had a gad damn ball! i bought a really nice electric type writer (so much fun) for $3.99 and an old sony radio where the time advances by a little flaps with numbers flipping down for 3.99 also....

i also had a blast from the past and got two VHSs YEAH THATS RIGHT VHSs (what are those anymore??) of "a few good men" and "top gun" ....mostly to see tom cruise in his prime (mmmmm.... yum yum) before he went all weird and crazy and scientologic.....

i highly advise stoping by your local st. vincent de paul or salvation army or thrift shop and seeing what yo stumble upon!

you won't be disappointed

~have fun~

the only thing i have ever bought at a thrift store was a web belt, i could'nt find the colour i wanted anywhere else.

To give you an idea how old that Sony clock might be - I had one exactly like the one you described with the numbers on little flaps that flip down, during my first year in college, in 1975...

Thrift stores are the best. Lots of gays are too prissy and prude to buy clothes other people have worn before.

LOL I'm one of those guys that you will never catch buying clothing from a thrift shop unless it's for halloween/costume party. But I don't mind shopping for other things at thrift shops! Especially books! :D

I check out thrift stores once in a while but never find anything good to buy :(

Why do people still have VHS recorders? That's like insisting on IE6.

I love Thrift Shops!

Thrift Shops in College/University towns rock! Especially at the end of a semester...it is amazing what students throw away before moving.

I ran over to one on my lunch break today and found a brand new Armani necktie, tag still attached. Original Retail $195, mine for One Dollar. :D

hahaha AWESOME! it's still ticking along just fine. the alarm selector is snapped but thats about the only damage... (but hey i wouldn't trust this with an important wake up anyway!) it's a sony "solid state Digimatic" about a foot wide, 6 inches deep and 4 high... wooden. with the snooze push down in the front left cornerish

ring anymore bells? bring back memories of old college hookups? lol

but yeah i love it. makes me feel like i'm in an old movie

Not so sure about that. My ass usually sits in pants, jeans, briefs bought second hand of which I am sure an other guy had them before me (used, torn and torn)

Same for T-shirts, shirts, suits and jackets.

I'll go to them for anything, but clothes. I guess I'm a priss. I just can't bring myself to wear something some stranger has sweat, farted and God knows what else in.

I bought these (brand new--never worn) at the GoodWill store. $8.50 last week-end.

Paying for them was the best orgasm I ever had.

It cancelled out the $72.00 shirt I bought at Nordstrom's (on sale, I'll have you know).

I also buy ties there.

A couple of years ago I bought a designer overcoat for $7.00. Lots of compliments on that still!

I like thrift stores and buy tons of shit there.I'm not above buying clothes there at all, but, I'm not buying second hand underwear..

I prefer my own personal skidmarks..

Thrift stores can be an amazing adventure. A fun outing on a lazy weekend.
Here in the Bay Area (Oakland) there is an event called "White Elephant Sale" all poceeds donate the Oakland Musemn. Opens tomorrow for preview sale.
Huge warehouse with donated items collected all year. It's a lot of fun.
Especially the final weekend when the do bargin bags.

I don't frequent them. But every year or so I will wander into one. Some of my best pairs of blue jeans that I have owned came from thrift shops, in the same condition that people would pay at least 10 times as much for the same brand at the mall.

British gentlemen in the 19th century tought it was not done to wear new stuff. So, servants used and worned new stuff before they started wearing it. They also could call the stable man to cum and service them in their room. No one said anything about it as long it was kept silent and you didn't brag it around or start a suit about it like Oscar Wilde. Back to 19th century London with his molly houses and all his street boys please.

Good shot, Yooper!

I'm constantly amazed at the overall quality of merchandise and hidden treasures, found in 2nd. hand shops. I've snagged good colored/ good fit~no rip Banana Republic, in a couple of Thrift Shops around town- for literally NOTHING! "Nanner Rep" is hard to get- CHEAP. The clothes look perfect; people think I blew a wad getting them. Gotten compliments- for sure.

Used to work at a local Goodwill Industries STORE, during college. High-end personnel would frequent, all - the - time. Seems people maintain- by being savvy!

Friend of mine, moved to the Big City. Had little money, but high hopes. "Where are the Thrift stores?" high on his TO DO list. Helped him maintain a maneuverable, visual, socio-economic brand,.. while questionably surviving( ..|ha! ). Image helped him land his job, and he's worthwhile enough to be successful, to this day. He STILL frequents the Thrifties.;)

Just sayin'.
