First Newt, now T. Paw.

Did you see Tim Pawlenty was pink glitter bombed in at a book signing San Francisco by gay activists?

Frightened, T. Paw jumped up and scampered off. His book is called "Courage to Stand". :rotflmao:

They're calling him "T. Paw" now. Lordy, you can't make this stuff up!
:rotflmao:

Courage to Stand my ass........[-X

Pawlenty does have an anti-gay record.

And here he brags about making you a second-class citizen.

He is rapidly making himself null and void. Like Newt Gingrich, he's worthless and trying to make a fast buck "running" for President.

After watching him in interviews and clips of his debate performance there is only one word I can think of to describe Tim Pawlenty: Weasel.

throwing stuff at our politicians: truly raising the level of civil debate in this country.

I know I'm just "throwing stuff at our politicians", but I recall a bridge collapsing (I-35) between Minneapolis and St. Paul, where 13 were killed, 148 were injured. At the risk of playing the blame game, we can all agree that the disaster occurred on Mr. Pawlenty's watch. Do we have any accountability here? How do we explain the event to the survivors of the 13 that were killed and the 148 who were injured? I know, shit happens.

That's called congressional negligence: the highway people have been begging for decades (since Reagan) for the money to keep bridges inspected and maintained. To expect the states to have to take care of a federal system is ridiculous.

I'm waiting for someone to get the glitter thing right: get a round tube, tape a battery-powered fan to one end, put the glitter in, and blow glitter. Dumping it is so amateur.

Hope it turns him into fairy.

Cute number, but you may wish to fast forward to 2:00:

Timmy already had the "fairy dust". Okay Timmy, think lovely, wonderful thoughts! 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.! Power! Control! Deregulation! Fucking the poor, elderly and sick! No Taxes for the upper 1%... and up you'll go! You won't need wires - you'll have Air Force One. (!)

Maybe a little fairy dust is something this cowardly criminal needs.

Pawlenty received one of the largest fines in Minnesota history trying to manipulate campaign integrity laws.

Pawlenty was involved in other scandals, pardoning a registered sex offender who just happened to be a generous donor..... AND with the insane Michele Bachmann involved in another who ran a ponzi scheme.

The list of Pawlenty’s consultants and strategists represents “a who’s who of some of the worst Republican scandals of the past decade.”

T. Paw is a weasel. What's he doing now to earn his paycheck? He's on the government dole. Like Newt, running for President is profitable because those speaking fees raise, so that's why he's doing it.

TPaw nor Bachmann can carry Minnesota. Every other Republican has a similar problem in their own home state. For a politician to win the Presidency, while not carrying their home state has an awful 5 and 38 record, which makes very hard to win.

First of all there is no Republican that is being set up that the party thinks will succeed IMHO. They have given this one up.

ANy republicans record on gay rights is nothing short of a throwback to Nazi germany with a few very minor exceptions that will never see themselves in the parties grace.

I would however runn like hell if someone in this society threw anything on me. Too many fruit loops and no clue what is in those packages, or glitter bombs as it may be.

Chris that is just plain misinterpreting the NATIONAL situation. States don't pay for the infrastructure, the Fed does. Or rather doesn't entirely but that is another thread, debate story etc.... That is one thing I agree the federal government should be doing. Facilitating the proper maintenance of our infrastructure. They should also NOT allow the states to manage the federal funds. WHY? Look at how much was given to New Orleans, they built monuments instead of levies. No thank you. Local politics has no business determining where millions of federal money goes. That and who inspects the bridges and tunnels and levies? The Fed so who is most equipped to determine the necessity for immediate repair and therefore decide the course of the funds?

BTW you may think it is a wonderful anti-republican talking point but the reality is our infrastructure in D or R areas is failing. There are hundreds, yes hundreds of bridges that are as bad off as the I-35 stretch was in MSP. The wholesale death of many Americans that will occur if left unchecked is not a valid talking point against either party IMHO.

Kuli I will be sure to put you on the team when we overthrow everything. Although methinks we may have some differing opinions on how it would go after that.

Again, I believe nothing worth a shit will be offered this time around. that does not mean the Democrats need to pull back. In fact if they are smart they should make sure Whomever is the '16 candidate has a speaking part as Obama did early on. They need to work on a future. Biden sure as hell is not it.

winning hearts and minds across America.

I'm sure having shit thrown in her face will make her sit down and seriously reconsider her positions.

You really ought to read the articles and think before responding.

The only thing missing here is superglue activated by human skin oils, on the glitter.

misrepresent what?

they're protesting candidates positions on LGBT rights. what's the purpose of protesting something if you're not trying to get people to stop and reconsider?

This:

I'm sure having shit thrown in her face will make her sit down and seriously reconsider her positions.

The perp said it was to mark her as one who does not hold the values of Minnesota or America.

The idea is what the one who hit Pawlenty said:

"....Showing a pragmatic side, Ms Mancias admitted that her action is unlikely to change Mr Pawlenty's stance on the issues. But she said she hopes it will focus the public's attention on where he stands."

The only way Pawlenty and Bachmann will reconsider their positions on gays is if they can profit by it be being elected or their bank accounts enhanced by it. Right now they're doing the typical Republican thing by pandering to the Christian conservatives for their support and votes.

You know darn well that Republicans try to get the Christian vote by using anti-gay rhetoric, but aren't that passionate about the issue in private. Those throwing the glitter are doing that to bring attention to the anti- GLBT stance of those candidates, not trying to change their thinking.

How on earth can any gay man defend and make excuses for Pawlenty and Bachmann?

throwing stuff at our politicians: truly raising the level of civil debate in this country.

That's right! But it beats getting shot in the head with the attacker yelling ""Sic semper tyrannis"

This isn't new and why do you act like it is? It is rather juvenile though.

All indications are that Bachman is a True Believer.

I'm not acting like it's new, it's just exhausting in its pointlessness.

no one today recounts stories of how Martin Luther King Jr. changed civil rights in this country by throwing watermelon seeds at southern congressmen.

Poor parallel: looking around, I don't see any "heteros only" seating on buses, no "hetero couples only" sections in restaurants, etc. Without those glaring rules to glaringly violate, gays have to be creative.

As others have pointed out, loki, the point of glittering is NOT to persuade the candidates. These are Republicans. There is no discussion of issues with these people. Their minds are made up.

But the glitter-bombings remind the world of what these people represent. Glitter-bombing is a non-violent and harmless way to highlight the intolerance and hatred that lives within the hearts of these bigots.

I think it's great.

MLK most definitely did throw metaphorical watermelon seeds at bigoted politicians. At every opportunity he highlighted the bigotry of these people and pointed out how damaging such attitudes are to this nation.

How many times was MLK sent to jail for upsetting the status quo? (AKA metaphorical watermelon seeds)

17 times, but I'm not sure you get the point I was trying to make.

it's not metaphorical watermelon seeds I'm talking about, it's literal ones.

staging protests, giving speeches, holding sit-ins... all amazing ways to upset the status quo.

throwing shit at someone? an amazing way to generate some bad publicity for your cause.

I don't see tossing glitter as "throwing shit" -- but doing it low-tech is just tacky! If they're going to make someone a "glitterati", they could at least do the while thing the dignity of using a fan!

That said.... I think a better stunt would be to hand these politicians sets of "ruby slippers". Tell them they're in the real America, of living color (and diversity), but if they want they can try the slippers and see if they can go back to black-and-white land.

That's right! But it beats getting shot in the head with the attacker yelling ""Sic semper tyrannis"

Of course it's juvenile. They're just agitators looking for any excuse to assault someone they disagree with. Real civil.
