Tim Pawlenty glitter bombed

It's soooo easy to sit back and criticize others who are making and taking a stand to defend and protect our rights. What did you, or me, or anyone do today / yesterday / tomorrow, that furthered a gay cause, be it showing up at a rally, writing a lawmaker, glitter bombing a bigot, or whatever? While you may not agree with it, at least someone actually DID something!

It reminds me of the people who bitch about gay pride events, or even PinkDot gatherings in Singapore, while sitting at home casting aspersions at those putting their money where their mouth is.

throwing shit at someone? an amazing way to generate some bad publicity for your cause.

Since when is nonviolent protest "bad publicity" for the protesters?

staging protests, giving speeches, holding sit-ins... all amazing ways to upset the status quo.

Ummmm... ...that's exactly what glitter-bombing is - staging a (particularly nonviolent) protest!

Of course it's juvenile. They're just agitators looking for any excuse to assault someone they disagree with. Real civil.

The only reasonable voice in this mess

I appreciate that you straight folk find us gays despicable. I know that you would prefer that we remain silent.

Sorry, but we won't.

We're going to keep up the rhetoric. We're going to point out bigotry and hatred wherever it raises its ugly head (even if that head happens to be one of your cherished candidates for intolerance). We will glitter-bomb you, we will march in gay prides, we will speak, and we will vote. We will fight for justice in every non-violent way we can think of.

The fact that you guys find it uncomfortable is precisely the point.

Is there a term for those who make apologizes for and defend their oppressors?

Your post appears to be autobiographical. :D

Hmm another thread devolving into a personality or person insult page.

SO ...umm.. production yeah thats it productive.

Yes.

They're called "Log Cabin Republicans."

If one watches a newsreel of the 1952 or 1956 Republican National Conventions, you will observe a multitude of placards that say "I Like Ike". Every once in a while, you may spot one that says "I Like Dick". I think these were early Log Cabin Republicans.
Could Log Cabin Republicanism be a variation of Stockholm Syndrome.

I'm not entirely comfortable with all of Gandhi's philosophies (like saying the Jews should have laid down and died before Hitler) but you really don't see the difference between what Gandhi advocated (boycotting british goods, picketing stores, holding rallies) versus throwing curry powder in a politician's face?

Not curry powder. I would have been throwing the ghee.

Obviously you have no idea of Holli.

The glitter is hardly curry.

T-Paw ( thetic ) should consider himself blessed, perhaps.

The pie in Anita Bryant's face was so much better.

A true American hero... brave crusader for (anti-gay) Prop. 6 of California. :=D:

Gov. Jerry Brown opposed it. (No surprise)
Pres. Gerald Ford opposed it. (Some surprise - pardoned Nixon)
Ronald Reagan opposed it. (Big Surprise - needed conservative vote for presidential campaign)

RNC: You've come a long way, baby! Teabagstaedt über alles!
Bash a f----t for Christ! (!)
