If you had the chance to travel into the past, be strictly an observer without being able to alter any historic events, (just so you won’t screw up the history books or disrupt the space time continuum) and afterwards return to the present, where would you go?

As For me, I would like to witness the extinction of the dinosaurs, according to the science books they were destroyed when a meteor smashed into Earth millions of years ago. Just think, these animals ruled the Earth long before man and if this event didn’t happen where would mankind be today. (Perhaps the main course on a dinosaur’s dinner plate!)

Second choice, I would like to witness the resurrection of Christ. This would clear any doubts I have about my religion.

Theoretically, you could travel back in time, screw up the space/time continuum and alter all the history books, return to the present, and your past wouldn't know the difference. Since you changed the past, your past would have changed with it.

Just thought you might like to know in case you start tinkering around with a time machine or something.

Thanks, buddy,

Now excuse me while I find my oil can, my time machine is a little rusty. ;)

I have always wanted to go back and experience the Gay revolution as it existed in New York and San Franciso in the 70ies before AIDS took its toll. I would be so curious to see all the places you can only read about today and experience the hedonism of the moment.... Looking back over your shoulder, everything always seems rosier than the reality... but it seems like such a care free time, when meeting a guy and having sex didn't have such worries attached to it, when life seemed less serious and there still looked to be opportunities for things to acheive that others hadn't already done.

I would go back to ancient Rome so I could experience the beauty and culture of the ancient city. Maybe the day Caesar was assasinated.

July 27th, 621 anno gregorian

Either the late 60's for the amazing music or studio 54........for the amazing music

Not to far back post WWII, I just think people were happier with the little things in life and America was booming, plus I loved the music from that era.

I would want to go back to Rome during its Golden Age and see all of the modern day ruins back to when they where building, halls, and stadiums.....

Aside from going back to see Jesus...

See Chopin perform. I'm obsessed, and even if I was actually somewhat disappointed, I'm still very curious what he was like and how he played.

Or maybe go back to see Socrates...I hope there are subtitles or some translation device in this time machine.

I'd travel back to the time of Jesus (assuming he actually existed, that is), so I could see for myself what he really taught and said...

Me too! But I'd want to have a long conversation with Jesus' brother, James.

For how long?
Maybe I'd go to the begining of the universe... or the begining of life... or both... you didn't say how many times, how long, where, etc.

For as long as you want, remember in this senario time has no meaning, you can stay as long as you want at whatever time period you choose and come back whenever you want.
