Tiramisu

Tiramisu.jpg

Here is a better image. The lady fingers should be soaked into a moist cake like consistency. In the other picture they don't seem soaked at all. Next time I make it I will try to take a picture of it.

Sorry, but it's one of very few puddings I really don't like. It's the coffee which puts me off. I love coffee on its own, but can't stand it in anything sweet like that.

Can I settle for some Italian ice cream?

Lucky for you Tiramisu is neither cooked or baked. (!)

Darn...now I'm hungry and I have to go to the gym!

Ah the coffee and alcohol soaked fingers, Combined with the creaminess and dark chocolate combined with cocoa.

I tried it once, and while it was good, I liked the cannoli lots better. :)

Kewl thread!

Anyone ever see Spartacus? You might remember the part where Sir Laurence Olivier and Tony Curtis are soaking in the bath. Sir Laurence expounds, "some like tiramisu, others like cannoli.

I also like tiramisu, but don't have it often enough. There's a really good Italian deli nearby. I'm going to have to investigate if it is sold there.

i have always wanted to do a "tiramisu run", where a group of friends and I go to all the restaurants in town that offer homemade/from scratch tiramisu, and rate them. and pairing them with coffees, teas, wines, etc . . .:gogirl:

The way I remember lady fingers are hard and stale.

These are the ones I buy which all my local stores carry. And they are cheap, just a couple bucks per package. They are very crisp and frankly taste blah on their own. But they turn out perfect when give them a quick dip in my recipe's coffee & marsala mixture. Another effective way of applying the liquid without getting them soggy is by brushing the liquid on them. Sit the tiramisu in the refrigerator for a day or two and lady fingers absorb all the yummy flavors.
