The Edmund Fitzgerald was an American Great Lakes freighter that sank during a storm on Lake Superior on November 10, 1975, with the loss of all 29 crew members. The sinking was memorialized in the popular Gordon Lightfoot song, "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald," and the ship is now the most famous shipwreck in the Great Lakes.
