Tom Ford's film at Venice wins a top prize for Colin Firth -- between those two that is a lot of hot man stuff.

Ford’s decision to adapt Christopher Isherwood’s A Single Man shows that he is not shy of a challenge. Isherwood’s novel charts a day in the life of George Falconer, a recently-bereaved gay college lecturer in early 1960s LA.

Tom Ford as in Gucci Tom Ford is doing film?
Excuse my ignorance.

^^^You do know that's the same guy, right?

Anyway, I read A Single Man a couple years back. I'd rate it good, but not great. It was one of the first novels where the main character was gay. It only took 48 years to get to the screen...

The IMDB write up ad-dresses Tom Fords Gucci background.

Chris Isherwood can be heavy going. I rather suspect the film is targetted at an arty audience; especially, gays.

Well, it's a short book that takes place in a single day. I think Hollywood can handle it. We'll see whether Tom Ford knows what he's doing, or whether this is just an ego trip.

That Colin Firth has been his choice actor, does suggest that Tom Ford has an eye for the right detail.
