That's because he is a truly natural guy. Sometimes he looks trim and buff and sometimes he looks scruffy and homely. He never insists on being consistent with his looks, which makes him all the more versatile in the business and more accessible for his fans. I prefer that kind of man over any picture perfect muscle god.
