...is Judgement day.

After numerous weeks of forcing myself through professional mobbing and being treated like shit at work, basically being outed by a 15 y/o twat in front of the full staff and finding out the newbies draw a more prominent salary than I do, I've decided to quit my job.

It was a tough decision, because I will probably never see my crush (the DHL driver) again, unless I find a new job in the same area (which I most definitely won't).

I feel terrible right now. Don't know what feeling outweighs the other, the nervousness or being totally pissed about all that.

/rant over.

Crashy, sorry to hear that. I was missing you in the chat these days and now i know why. I know you will find something soon (*8*)

Ah, don't worry because the dhl driver, you always have Brian... ;)

Thanks guys for all the quick responses () and kind words!

They'll probably go out of business now. Serve 'em right!

They probably will, I can't see a newbie taking over and run the show just now, right before the pre-christmas sales.

Arent their equal opportunity laws?

Im only asking cos i genuinely dont know. Here in the UK if that happened you'd have been laughing - cos you'd be looking at a nice pay out for breach of those laws mentioned above on your employers behalf.

I never heard of such laws. Guess I should read up on that.

But this is Austria, if you are gay you're not even allowed to have sex until you're 18.

I'm sorry to hear that and I wish you all the best in getting a new job.

You might still be able to keep in touch with that DHL driver, have you got his number?

Anyway, I have always thought that the European countries would have really good laws on social equality and stuff like that. Perhaps, check with the discrimination department or something. You never know, as joeslifeyork has mentioned, you might be walking out with a big pay check!

...... ........

Here's something you should read, I couldn't resist doing a Google search for you

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gay_rights_in_Austria

There is stuff in the links in some language which I don't understand - it probably is Austrian!

I'm sorry to hear about your troubles Crash. I know it sucks right now, but don't let it get you down. You're an exceptionally bright guy (and super cute!), I'm pretty sure you will find something else. In the meantime, look into the legalities of your departure. If you can stick it to them, then by all means do so! Best of luck my friend. (*8*)

Good luck! I'm sure you'll ba able to find a position where you are better appreciated!

Sorry Joe - it doesn't say that Crashdown was sacked because he was outed, it says he quit because he was outed (and he was getting paid less - which probably had nothing to do with his sexuality).

No law has been broken.

Best of luck to you tomorrow. I am sure you will land a better job, with nicer ci-workers very quickly.

My suggestion is when you talk to your boss about quitting, i to me professional, firm and polite. Stick with the facts. You may want to write out some key points. I am not sure what the custom of "giving notice" is (in the US it is two weeks to transition) but it is important if you want to us your current employer as a reference. I also believe that it is better and easier to find a job while employed then to quit and start looking.

Sorry you were outed by a asshole 15 year old brat. I just came off a project where i was demoted because of whining and childish behavior of others, so I understand the pain and feelings you have. I was treated like shit for a few months during a transition to the new leadership but my senior management was thankful for my professionalism and rewarded me with a transfer back to the corporate office and assigned me several interesting tasks. Where is this leading, hold your head high, do your job the best you can, dont give a shit about what others say or think of you until you have something better in place.

I dear mentor once told me that a job is nothing more that enhanced unemployment.

Hope this helps

I never heard of such laws. Guess I should read up on that.

But this is Austria, if you are gay you're not even allowed to have sex until you're 18.

The EU required Austria to amend its anti-discrimination laws to cover sexual orientation. The Gleichbehandlungsgesetz was so amended in 2004. According to an on-line source on Austrian law:
Of course, proof in these matters is a complicated thing but still if they've been jerks to you, you may have recourse. I had to do a little on-line research because I found it hard to believe that a EU member state could be more backward in these matters than the USA.

Good luck to you. (*8*)

Yes but he did say that they made his life hell as a result of his sexuality.. this is constructive dismissal here in the UK. If they have similar laws then it could still be a case.

Erm - when did he say that, "fella"??

Have you not covered the laws of burden of proof at night school yet?
