So here's the deal... I have been thinking about getting a tongue piercing but there are some questions that I have. I understand the stereotypes that go along with tongue piercings (sexual related) but this is not why I am doing this. I have come to the decision because I want to do something new and fun.

Questions: The first is the most asked which is "Is it going to hurt?". I know pain tolerance varies for people but I still want a general consent. The second is how much up keep does it take? Third, for those of you who have had sex with someone with one does it actually make it better? Finally, what are the odds that something goes wrong with the piercing such as having to get your tongue removed because of it?

What kind of work do you do or do you want to do? I believe that unlike earrings, mouth piercings cannot be removed without running the risk of the hole closing. Pain? Did you ever bite your tongue? Want to enhance oral sex? How about the old fashioned way, alternating ice and a hot beverage in your mouth?

So, that's one no vote from me.

i have my tongue pierced no it did not hurt at all i only felt a slight stretching as the needle opened the hole more and yes it does enhance oral sex for the one recieving
and actually i have had it for over a year and no one makes any sexual comments about it and it doesnt take much to keep clean as long as you are brushing your teeth and rinsing with mouth wash every day they say you should rinse every 4 hours and i never heard of peoples tongues getting cut off the worst case scenario is you would have to take it out let it close and then re pierce if it got infected any questions feel free to message me

I used to have my tongue pierced.

For me it did hurt getting it done, but even worse was the 3 or 4 days of swelling after where you cant eat solid foods.

Aesthetically you could very rarely see it unless i stuck my tongue out, and it was more an annoyance clicking against my teeth etc.

Sexually..nothing. nada. Both me and my partner had them at the same time, and it did nothing for me and he was the same.

So thats my experience, take from it what you will.

I also used to have my tongue pierced.

For me it did not hurt getting it done, but the throbbing and dull pain and swelling for the next couple of days is not fun.

Also having to rinse your mouth many times a day, and not being able to speak properly, and lisping (lithping  ) , and having to eat soft foods, and biting your swollen tongue, and catching (biting) the initial jewellery (longer to cater for tongue swelling) with your teeth, and having to take time off work because you cant speak properly, and learning to eat all over again, and learning how to put a fork in your mouth without hooking the jewellery, and learning how to get spagetti to go down your throat without knotting itself round the jewellery and the other end hanging half way down your throat making you want to retch is also is not so cool. This all goes on or about 10-12 days healing after which you can downsize the jewellery. I downsized to 13mm with a smaller ball on the bottom and this stopped the bruising of the upper and lower palate, and also helped stop the tooth chipping.

Another consideration is the possibility of infection (Subacute bacterial endocarditis (Streptococcus viridans)) of the heart valves if the jewellery is not sterilized properly or removed before it has healed. So you cant just take it out because it is sore, or swollen, or you cant talk or eat etc.

BUT

having said all that, it is a lovely toy once it has healed, you can stick your tongue out at passers by and see the annoyance on their faces, or you can play with it all day, gripping it between your front teeth and pulling your tongue back (until you chip a front tooth), and playing the piano along your molars (until you crack one and it costs a couple of hundred to have it fixed).

So maintenance and upkeep? Not much except for taking it out and giving it a good cleaning each week and of course the dentists bills. Oh and their bills skyrocket and the medical aid won't pay because it's a self inflicted injury.

Sex! It doesnt make too much difference.

Overall Rating/Opinion :- Go for it! Do it! have fun! you only live once!

Would I do it again :- Hell yes! It was fun while it lasted, but this time round, only if i could put it in and take it out when i wanted, and if the hole didnt close up after an hour or two, and neither of these are gonna happen, so No, I won't do it again.

Hope this helps

ps. Its a bit of a long story i know but at least you will have a good idea of what you're getting yourself into.

I got a BJ from a dude with one a couple of years ago and for me it certainly enhanced the experience.

!oops!

I don't think I'd get one myself, though.

But then again, I have 'other' jewelry that might have enhanced it too.

I had my tongue pierced for about 2 years before I had my tongue split (which is AWESOME!)

It does hurt a little, but it isn't bad. Ibuprofen pretty much was all I needed. I think I took 800 mg (4 pills) to help with the swelling which honestly was the worst part, but only lasted a couple of days. Put some ice on it, too, and that will help as well.

Good luck!
