I saw this movie a few weeks ago with my bf and I really loved it. The plot and the characters spoke to me and some of the dialogue was great. It's even more impressive when you realize the movie was made over 20 year's ago and it's set in the 70's and early 80's.

It stars and was written by Harvey Fierstein and a young Matthew Broderick and is based on the play of the same name.

Here's the imdb page for it: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0096289/

If you haven't seen it, I recommend it and if you have, I'd love to hear what you have to say about it.

It is a good movie...and Harvey is very funny. Anne Bancroft was brilliant as his mother and Matthew Broderick was great too.

My favorite gay movie of all times is "The Sum of Us" which is also adapted from a play of the same name. Russell Crowe pre hollywood and Jack Thompson...brilliant!!!

I loved that movie too.

It's a great show. Saw it years ago. Think I still have it on VHS somewhere.

If you like Torch Song Trilogy you might also like Jeffrey and Trick.

Jeffrey:

Trick:

I love Trick. It's a little gem of a film. Doesn't try to preach and there's no agenda. Just a boy-meets-boy, boy-loses-boy, boy-gets-boy-back film.

CowboyBob, do you have a VHS of the show or of the movie?

I love Jeffrey! I may have seen it when I was a kid, but I know for sure that I saw it with my bf in our first few months of dating. I thought it was a very cute and enjoyable movie.

I've been hearing about Trick off and on for the last couple of years. I'll have to give it a go sometime soon. Thanks for the rec, CowboyBob!

Torch Song is wonderful. Jeffrey, also amazing.

The Sum of Us, I just loved. Loved Russell Crowe early in his career.

The VHS I have is of the Matthew Broderick / Harvey Fierstein movie. Now that you brought up the subject I'll watch it tonight.

You should enjoy Trick.

There's also an older movie you may like called The Ritz.

A comedy about a straight man hiding from his criminal brother in law in a gay bathhouse. A light comedy that's fun to watch. Rita Moreno as Googie Gomez is a scream.

I just watched the movie again recently. I remember seeing it in a theater when it came out.
