well. i am a fan. but i get what you are saying. i have met some cool people at shows. on the message boards though. god i have been a member of one for it seems ten years. and i get annoyed with some of the people there. some of her fans are the only thing i don't like about her too.

I just got the album yesterday, and it's growing on me.

So far my favourite is Give - I think her best (and sexiest) song in years. I also like Curtain Call, Mary Jane, Starling, AAtS and Strong Black Vine (and the last half of Lady in Blue)

it's a great album. every time she releases something it kind of divides the fanbase into the love hate camps. i always love what she releases. and am pretty glad she makes a different sounding album and explores different production aspects. i get pretty bored quickly. and she is the one artist who has yet to bore me. and she is amazing live.

and i like visuals too. but, they were filmed as extra's for the american doll posse tour dvd. so, she added them to explain the images that inspired these songs.

oh and there is not one song on this cd that i actually dislike. and for me. that is pretty rare. i usually dislike one or two songs. but, most of the time i end up loving them later.

so here.

her covering somewhere over the rainbow in vienna for promo. she talks about how she used to play it for her mom. she gets pretty emotional during the song. and you can tell she is about to cry in parts. but it adds so much to the performance. what a perfect place to put tori covering judy garland.

and a live version of the song iieee from vh1 storytellers.

The Sessions at West 54th version of iieee is definitely the best, most intense performance of that song

This album is growing on me. It's just such an odd album! I'm not really sure what to make of it yet...

I absolutely love this woman, and have since I was 14...I'm 32 now, so it's been a while. The new record I like, but it's a little too mellow. It is growing on me, and I'm sure I'll appreciate it the more I listen to it. I have only listened to it twice all the way through so I won't review it.
And I have to say, one of the things I love about her is that she doesn't tread the same ground from record to record. She doesn't allow herself to have a "sound".
When people say things like "I'm hoping she'll go back to..." in hopes she'll make a record that sounds like LITTLE EARTHQUAKES, UNDER THE PINK, etc...I don't understand these comments. Why would you want to listen to something that sounds like something that's already been done? That's part of what I think makes her interesting as a musician is that she seems to always be trying for something new.
I will say that THE BEEKEEPER is probably her most uneven record, but even then has some great songs.
Can't wait to see her in Oakland in July. I've seen her play live over 20 times now, and it's never dull. Probably my favorite concert experience...OK it's two things HAHA. When she was touring for FROM THE CHOIRGIRL HOTEL I met her before the show and asked her to play HAPPY PHANTOM for me, and she did, so awesome. And the ON SCARLET'S WALK tour she was playing GOLD DUST and someone in the audience shouted "Silent all these years!" to which Tori replied "Fuck off" without missing a beat. What makes it even more disrespectful of this guy is that she was obviously moved by performing this song at that time and place, you could hear that she was choked up. The rest of the show, she seemed a little pissed.
I'll shut up now...
It's nice to see people on here giving her some love.

Its not one of my favorites, I have been a fan since 1995. Its very dark. I personlly thing that some of the intrumentals in the songs are overpowering her voice. Much Like Chiorgirl. But Chiorgirl was a new venue. I do love Maybe California, Ophellia, Curtain Call, and Welcome to England. I will say it is by far not my least favorite album ( which is Beekeeper). I still enjoy it.
My Rank on her Albums are as so

1. Little Earthquakes
2. Boys For Pele
3. Under the Pink
4. To Venus and Back
5. From the Chiorgirl Hotel
6. Scarlet's Walk
7. American Doll Posse
8. Strange Little Girls
9. Abnormally Attracted to Sin
10. Y Kan't Tori Read
11. The Beekeeper
