Location
Toronto (GTA)
Updated info:

It's now carved in stone. The location is O'Grady's Restaurant & Bar, 518 Church St. at Maitland in Toronto's gay village same as 2006. We managed to reserve the north patio. But it gets better! If mother nature rains on our fun we have the use of the private upstairs room complete with billiard table and our own bar. Sometimes it ain't who ya know but who ya blow. (just kidding) So if anybody gets there and sees nobody in a blue JUB shirt and it is raining, go upstairs. Speaking of T shirts If you haven't given me your size, I need to know now so I can get the order in by the end of the week. Directions will be handed out to those coming to the Sunday pool/spa BBQ.
After we finish eating we have some free time where we can go bar hopping or torment TheWiz at his hotel room. We will see. we need to kill some time because we are going dancing at FLY at 8 Gloucester St. & Yonge.

It doesn't open till 10 and costs about $15. depending on when you arrive. Its open till 5 AM. Remember, no guns or knives. Security is very strict.

Note about the Sunday Pool party
This year I've made a small change. The last 2 years Flash and I supplied everything for the party but this year we needed a new roof so I am asking for a $5 donation for the food and drinks per person. In addition, there will be cold beer available for a $2 donation so you don't have to worry about trying to find a beer store. If you are bringing the hard stuff, there should be lots of mix and plastic glasses.

If you haven't told me you will be coming or indicated you weren't sure, or just expressed some interest in it, please let me know now where things are at so I can fine tune this as much as possible. And remember if you are flying in from the USA you will need a passport but if you are driving you just need a birth certificate and proof of citizenship although a Passport is always the best document.
Questions? We got answers!

As many of you will remember we have had 3 annual jub meets in Toronto. Well the first one was really small. The problem is I have organized all of them and have been happy to do so. It is, however, time for a change in organizers. It is fairly straightforward organizing the event.
So any takers? It's time to think about it now.

Re: Toronto JUB meet 2008

Good idea, an early announcement leaves enough time for people to get ready. I really want to go to this one. Hopefully it will be bigger and better than all of the previous ones.

Re: Toronto JUB meet 2008

The last 2 years we had the meet the day before Father's Day. Maybe it should change.
The week after is the pride parade and the area is so crowded it would be impossible to seat our crowd together.

Re: Toronto JUB meet 2008

I am up for a summer meet in toronto.it will be my first time in toronto need someone to show me the ropes;)

Re: Toronto JUB meet 2008

You Toronto Jubbers have been naughty little boys. You have ignored my request for someone to organize the 2008 event leaving me no alternative but to do it myself. It will be a week later this year so the date is going to be June 21 at 4:00PM and the location will likely be O'Grady's patio but may be Zelda's party room. I need to know how many are coming first. This later date will allow those to come that used the Father's Day excuse in the past.
Check that dance card on your iPhone and get back to this thread to let me know if you are coming. You might also indicate your preference for either a patio venue or indoors.

The other half of the weekend will be the clothing optional pool/spa BBQ on Sunday at noon as we have had the past 2 years. More details will follow.

To put things on a timeline the Toronto Pride parade is June 29.

I will also need your Tshirt sizes at some point.

So guys RSVP PDQ :)

Re: Toronto JUB meet 2008

I'll go as long as I get to pet the mascot.

But seriously, count me in, eh!

See, I'm talking Canadian already. :p

Re: Toronto JUB meet 2008

I'm 22 in Toronto and very curious about this..i'd love more details/info on this

Re: Toronto JUB meet 2008

you can read about last years *meat* here

Judging by the replies I have had at this early date I'm guessing we will have a bigger turnout than last year. I can't believe Liam is going to make it! He smashed his car up last year just to get out of coming from Chicago. Can't use that excuse again Liam.

Re: Toronto JUB meet 2008

I don't think that I can make it on the 21st. But I can sure try to come on the 22nd. :)

Re: Toronto JUB meet 2008

To all those in the know:

Whereabouts might one one stay in the 'boystown' of Toronto?

Good question...

ALSO...

Do we need PASSPORTS now to DRIVE into Canada???

Just curious...

Opinterph and I are NOT going to make the ST LOUIS meet -- BUT -- I'd like to twist his arm into maybe going up to Toronto...

IF you were SERIOUS about the clothing optional POOL party -- I KNOW he'd like that!!! ..|

:-):-):-)

The Best Western Primrose is on Carlton which is the southern east-west edge of the *village* and is within walking distance of where the event will be held. Price is reasonable as well. Just don't get Tom's room from 2 years ago, because from the reports I've received, it was beyond restoration.

For the size queens, please note the rooms are equipped with a 27" TV

Presuming you are driving from the US of A as of today you do not need passports. This is scheduled to change this year but nobody seems to know when. Flying may be a different matter. You should have a government issued photo ID like a drivers license, proof of citizenship and a birth certificate. A Passport is always the best single document you can carry and you have time to get one now so why not? I am astounded by the small minority of American Citizens that have passports. I guess if you guys didn't have Florida the number would be higher:)

We are deadly serious about the clothing optional Sunday party. It is always 50% - 75% nude. For those that are shy you could wear sunglasses.:D

Re: Toronto JUB meet 2008

I don't like sunglasses. May I wear a hat?

Re: Toronto JUB meet 2008

spin the bottle?
pool party?
showing skin?

Three reasons for me to definitely not go!
