Toronto - Mayor Rob Ford to be kicked out on his ass

So he's finally out of office? Good fucking riddance. He was a homophobic piece of shit and I hope the people of Toronto learned. I always hope that big cities were more accepting and wouldn't elect morons like this one.

unfortunately the suburbs is a weird place and that's how he got in.

the downtown core did not support him. I live downtown with the rest of the queers.

if he tries to run again he will have a nice fight on his hands.

James: The inside story on Rob Ford’s self-inflicted destruction

"Toronto’s political system is equipped with numerous fail-safe mechanisms to keep a mayor out of legal trouble. Mayor Rob Ford managed to crash through every one and land in a heap, steps from being tossed out of office.

How it happened is an unprecedented tale of arrogance, hubris, incompetence, stubbornness and, in the words of Justice Charles Hackland, “willful blindness.”

It’s been reported that Ford ignored as many as six letters from city council’s integrity commissioner to comply with the rules that now threaten to abort his mayoralty, midterm."

^ There are none so blind. . .

Then again, you don't see much when your lips are attached to the prime minister's ass.

The shit head won this one.

sad day for Toronto.

but more is to come .......they're still auditing his campaign finances.

Apparently, the plaintiff is going to appeal to the Canadian Supreme Court, according to the article gsdx linked. Anyone here think the court will hear the case?

^ Conflict of Interest isn't taken lightly and it all comes down to Ford participating in the discussions and vote which would ultimately seal his own fate. It wasn't the three grand he raised for his football team using his Office to raise it. It wasn't even the fact that, at his lawyers claimed in their appeal that City Council didn't have the power to force Ford to pay back the money. (That's what got the ruling overturned.) It all boils down to the fact that, when Ford got caught using his position as mayor to raise the money, he came back with, "Oh. I didn't read that part." At that point, Ford should have resigned. He didn't. He pulled a Wanker90 and said "I'm here to stay and there ain't nuthin' you can do about it!"

The overturn was based upon the fact that there would not have been a Conflict of Interest if the Council had not tried to force Ford to pay back the money (which he didn't do, but that's beside the point).

The Conflict of Interest is still there and Ford has yet to take responsibility for it or to be punished for it. It will be a tough haul to the Supreme Court, but they did it once. I'm sure they will do it again.

As PreTTy PeTe said, "More is to come."

We haven't heard the end of this.

The SC will probably be a fruitless effort. By the time their lazy asses actually handle the case, he'll be out of office.

Sadly he might our mayor during World Pride next year.

How can a mayor ignore the last two prides when they bring so much money to the city and if he ignores World Pride then the man is scum.

Indeed:

Toronto Mayor Rob Ford left city hall early on Friday, and, whether that was intentional or not, it turned out to be a fairly fortuitous absence.

A damning audit into the controversial mayor’s 2010 election spending was released to the public just a shy moment before the end of the day, well after Ford had left for the weekend.

CTV News reports that the report by Froese Forensics found that Ford broke the law and exceeded the allowable campaign spending limit by $40,168 during his successful bid to be mayor.

The report will be submitted to the city’s Compliance Audit Committee, which will decide whether to file non-criminal charges against Ford.

It is possible, but high unlikely, that Ford could be removed from office as a result. A more likely penalty would be a fine. And remember, that is only if charges are brought forward and he is found guilty.

Consider the not-so-sexy sequel to Ford’s recently concluded conflict of interest court battle.

UPDATE: According to The Toronto Star, Rob Ford is still asking for donations to his football charity. You know, the thing that got him removed from office in the first place? He's still doing it. Apparently, he didn't learn his lesson the first time.
