Total Waste of Food in South Africa

News Pics going around showing a complete wastage of food in South Africa by totally arrogant people who behave like spoil brats.

The workers on site received free food parcels, everyday. There was an agreement with ESKOM (the South African Electricity Supply Commission) that, after one year, they would be receiving hot meals instead of food parcels. MPS-JV (Medupi Power Station-Joint Venture) employees are now upset at not receiving hot meals, as promised, and yesterday they protested by throwing their food parcels at management!

Now you might get an idea why Eskom needs a couple of billion dollars.........
Daily thousands of employees at Medupi receive free food, on top of free accommodation, transport, etc......
And considering 900 000 people in SA lost their jobs last year, and how many millions of people are living in poverty and don't know where their next meal is coming from.... these photo's just explain it all!!!! Absolute arrogance, excess and wastage on a grand scale.

Medupi Power station is being built in a small town right up in the north-west of South Africa called Ellisras. The black people are changing the name of Ellisras to Lephalale. You want to know why - well because black people do not like towns to have afrikaans names so they change them to black names and they rule the country so what they say goes.

Firstly, sunshine, the workers are not given 'free' food. Like any other contract, their food is being provided as part of the compensation for doing the work.

Secondly, the company did not meet the terms of the agreement and did not provide the hot meals as required.

I imagine that the cold meals are not very appetizing.

You may think these workers (or black slaves as it would appear you'd like to think of them) wasted this food, but they made their point and one suspects that they will now get hot meals in accordance with the contract.

You obviously have no concept of how large construction projects work around the world. If some company tried to pull a stunt like this with their workers in North America, the job would shut down while their union made the employer provide what was promised as part of the pay and compensation agreement.

And so fucking what if they're changing the name of someplace to something that isn't just a reminder of the ugly history they've left behind?

You sound like the unbelievably racist, unpleasant and out of touch South African whites that we had to sit with at dinner for an entire cruise a few years ago.

Get over it.

Your oppressive racism only helped ruin the world, not improve it.

^A waste food is still a waste of food. Knowing how the unions have behaved recently - Eskom's unions in particular - when this is all sorted out this wasted food will have to be compensated for, and we'll have another price hike to cover it. And if they don't get it, there'll be riots and pillaging of the town. As usual.

Our power bills are already going up 24% per year for the next 3 years to cover Eskom and its employees' general clumsiness and lack of foresight, in addition to the 34% increase they had this year. This additional nonsense mentioned above is simply unnecessary.

And don't get me started on name changes, either.
