  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

traffic ticket for stop signs. question.

lmao. ..|

i hate the po...even if they are sometimes necessary. they should only come when called and not creep around. the po creep far to much for my taste.

A little paranoid are we? Got something to hide?

^ you know if they don't have probable cause they can't search your car unless you allow them to?

Back then I THOUGHT I knew my rights -- BUT the cop explained that since I had a commercial drivers license -- he could TAKE it if I didn't give him permission...

I have SINCE THEN learned that he was FLAT OUT LYING to me...

I will NEVER AGAIN voluntarily allow someone to search my vehicle -- NOT because I'm worried they'd find anything -- JUST as a MATTER OF COURSE...

And you're correct that we should ALL know and EXERCISE our rights...

:):):)

It's not about traffic safety, it's about revenue.

Actually its about both. Traffic safety AND revenue. The fines are supposed to help people remember to drive safely, but people don't do their part and practice safer driving habits. Thus the cost for patrols increases especially since those bad habits become contagious (not to mention they cause road rage), bringing about the need for increased revenue. So cops tend to hand out more tickets, especially to vehicles that come up in their system (repeat offenders so to speak). If they can't deter you from careless driving, then maybe they can at least get funding out of you to pay their wages. Not to mention the risk that the next person they pull over just might be the psycho freak who is hopped up on drugs that pulls out a gun and tries to ventilate their flesh.

And you are pissed off that you got pulled over for doing something you were doing?

My first ticket was for 'failure to signal'. I did in fact signal.

My second ticket was running a red light. I thought I could beat it and I just didn't want to slam my brakes when the light finally changed. My bad.

I still very much resent the officer who issued my first citation. It was the first time I had ever even been pulled over. No warning.

Are you sure your signal light was working?

Ah but I have seen far more fallibility right here on JUB than in the boys in blue. They have a higher standard for entrance than this forum. So yes, I tend to believe more in them than my fellow JUBbers, until actual evidence is provided to prove what is being claimed.

In which country/city/neighbourhood does one usually receive notice prior to being pulled over. Do you receive a notice in the mail a day ahead of time, perhaps? Or a telephone call?

some people just hate the police and the power they have. they don't like being told they did something wrong, and they certainly don't like having to pay for their violations. I understand all that. I never understood tho how people can think that they can get caught red handed and still blame the cops for giving them a ticket. The OP ran two stop signs in a row, which shows blatent disregard and he's pissed that he got two tickets. Ok, maybe the cop could have given him one and a stern warning on the other, but either way, people know if they disregard the traffic laws there is a chance you're gonna get busted. spin the wheel, take your chances, no sympathy.

no, stupid cops just want to make some extra cash. that is why they gave me two tickets for two stop signs.

i didn't just drive without stopping, i did stop, it is just a matter if i should have stopped for 1 min or 15 seconds. they claimed that i didn't stop completely.

like i wrote earlier, one time, i got a ticket for jaywalking! there are so many crimes out there, they had the free time to write me a ticket for walking!

if those cops want to help me to learn a lesson, 1, they could have just gave me one ticket for one stop sign. 2. they could have just gave me a warning for jaywalking.

The only lesson you would have learnt with warnings is for you to think of the police as 'suckers'.

You're just pissed off because you got caught breaking the law.

I wasn't trying to insinuate anything necessarily...

I was just trying to figure out where you were coming from...

I still don't see how he deserved 2 tickets for 2 stop signs in quick succession -- but, hey -- I wasn't there...

Nor do I watch Judge Judy -- I imagine her response would have been even MORE brutal...

:lol::lol::lol:

I didn't think you were. I was just too damned lazy to do the math myself.

However, I took the time to do it, and, in 42 years of 'legal' driving with an actual licence, I've received only 2 tickets (1 in the late 70s and one in the late 80s), and both were speed violations. Otherwise, the only encounters I've had with the police are several 'Ride' checks and once when a convict escaped from Warkworth Prison several decades ago and the police were checking all vehicles.

i don't like cops in my city. how many of you ever got a ticket for jaywalking? i had to pay over $70 for that!

like i said so many times already, i didn't just drive right thru those two stop signs, i did stop, it is just a matter how long i should have stayed in the stop position.

stupid cops. they just want to make more money.

Most people who claim they stopped only did a "rolling stop. They slow down to an almost stop, but don't come to a complete stop.

Just because you feel you slowed enough to be considered a stop, doesn't make it a stop.
