Trailer for Moonlight African American Gay Film coming out soon

Re: Am I the only one who thinks "Moonlight" has an agenda?

I never seen Moonlight, and I don't think I ever will. Maybe if I'm half drunk and it's on HBO on Friday night or something like that. lol.

Very quickly, Moonlight is a drama film which all the characters and actors are black, and the two main characters are young gay black men who go through childhood being involved with each other, and it goes onto their teenage years and 20s still being together.

You are wrong. You need to watch the movie to understand the movie. Personally I wouldn’t even say either one of them is gay, but that is saying too much as it is. Watch the film. It is good.

You have Hidden Figures which I haven't seen as well, but I think is a way better acclaimed film than two homosexual black boys in love.

Again you are wrong. Hidden Figures had some very big issues with it. First it was a true story, that was great, but you could tell where the film makers added stuff that didn’t belong. Secondly they had three great actresses, but really only used two of them fully. In my opinion they used the best, Spencer too little. Third, and this is purely a personal one, the two big “racists”, I am not even 100% sure they were racist or just assholes. I don’t feel it was clear. However when IMDB had message boards and I asked about it, people told me that is how it was sometimes so I may be wrong.

Moonlight had no real issues.

Re: Am I the only one who thinks "Moonlight" has an agenda?

Did I misread or is the crux of this thread

"I didn't see this movie or that movie but I thought this movie was garbage and that movie was way better."

You missed the bit where it says "one movie was Black so it must've been a write off token!" But yeah, that's the gist.

Re: Am I the only one who thinks "Moonlight" has an agenda?

This is a troll thread, replete with comments by people whose only purpose is to get a reaction. Intelligent people watch a film before they comment on it. People who are maladjusted spend their time seeing what the reactions are because they have no life (or friends) outside of their keyboard. 30 years ago, you'd never see people dismissing what they hadn't seen. We used to be intelligent and articulate. Now, there are so many angry depressed people, the only way to get it out of their system to to bait others.
As the Chinese saying goes, "It is better to be silent and be thought a fool, than open one's mouth and remove all doubt. It's obvious which posts fit that.

It would be best if everyone, including me, just doesn't respond. Moonlight's already won the Best Picture Oscar. It doesn't require the approval of anyone now. It will live on its own merits, of which there are many.

Re: Am I the only one who thinks "Moonlight" has an agenda?

^^^Mmmhm. I tried to point out movies aren't supposed to exactly match the audiences 'inner minds' cuz, well, who the fuck would bother watching it when it's a play by play of one's own life? That's not what movies do! (Well, baring biographies, but those folks are generally dead). But he was bitching that 'everyone expects him to love it' so I doubt it went o'er well.

Re: Am I the only one who thinks "Moonlight" has an agenda?

"I never seen Moonlight, and I don't think I ever will."

I applied similar reasoning and didn't bother reading the rest of your post. I have no time for stupidity.

Re: Am I the only one who thinks "Moonlight" has an agenda?

Not sure someone can go on about a Movie they have never seen?

Re: Am I the only one who thinks "Moonlight" has an agenda?

If you are saying liberal Hollywood wanted to award a film (a true story) about a black gay---you may be right. But no one can say it's not a good film and powerfully acted.... And an important film. Most best pics are not as important in terms of subject matter.

Re: Am I the only one who thinks "Moonlight" has an agenda?

Spoiler alert: EVERY movie has an agenda. I'm just happy the agenda wasn't "rake in a billion dollars with CGI explosions" this time around.

Two black men fall in love. The first night they discover they are both bottoms. They break up. End of story. It's against the law for gay movies to have a happy ending.

The theme song is song by Karen Walker.

oh my, thankyou so much.
Very to the point summary ...

Re: Am I the only one who thinks "Moonlight" has an agenda?

....I think they are trying to throw some kind of agenda with this....

I'm not saying nessarily the film makers on Moonlight are to blame or invovled, because they might be, but the academy awards, golden globes, all that shit does have some type of agenda with this movie...
Yes, you're right. The Oscar member voters do have an agenda.

They VOTED this year in a belated cover up for last year's million-dollar 'national disgrace' when an angry Oprah and some other angry millionaire heavyweights placed a very big VETO on the big, multi-million-dollar schmoozefest.

Re: Am I the only one who thinks "Moonlight" has an agenda?

You don't have to see something to know if you'll like it or not.

I saw damn near every episode of Noah's Arc and the movies and hated it. I think I have the right not to like this shit.

I already seen every urban black gay movie/tv show out there. This crap is no different sorry.

Re: Am I the only one who thinks "Moonlight" has an agenda?

I almost get the sense that you feel snubbed.
