Trailer for Moonlight African American Gay Film coming out soon

Re: Am I the only one who thinks "Moonlight" has an agenda?

You don't have to see something to know if you'll like it or not.

I saw damn near every episode of Noah's Arc and the movies and hated it. I think I have the right not to like this shit.

I already seen every urban black gay movie/tv show out there. This crap is no different sorry.

You might not always need to see something to know if you'll like it, but if you're going to make a claim about a movie saying it has an agenda or anything other kind of opinion about the movie, you will need to have seen it to have a proper opinion or else you're just looking foolish.

Re: Am I the only one who thinks "Moonlight" has an agenda?

Ha, I'm now watching it just because of all this crappy chatter.

Taralen is talking about a movie but ALSO the owner's motives for making it and selling it.

...I think they are trying to throw some kind of agenda with this. I'm not saying nessarily the film makers on Moonlight are to blame or invovled, because they might be, but the academy awards, golden globes, all that shit does have some type of agenda with this movie...

I can empathise because the movie is attempting to portray a niche audience. And we shouldn't be surprised if the niche may not be happy with it.

When the moviemakers ask Brad Pitt to star in a biographical movie about me, you have to expect I'm going to be a bit temperamental about the details of Brad's portrayal of me.

Like moviemakers asked Gore Vidal to do something in their movies, Vidal would almost always throw a hissyfit.

Re: Am I the only one who thinks "Moonlight" has an agenda?

Did "Hollywood" make this film, or Barry Jenkins?

Re: Am I the only one who thinks "Moonlight" has an agenda?

This is a commercial product...

Not entirely.

Most of us use a commercial platform to deliver our artsy ambitions.

I think Mr. Jenkins deserves a fair shake before such a simple dismissal.

You risk irrelevancy by your erudition.

Re: Am I the only one who thinks "Moonlight" has an agenda?

Some thoughts....

This is a film of great tenderness.

This is a film about all of us.

This is an imperfect film. (Though this is definitely not the film of an amateur.)

Re: Am I the only one who thinks "Moonlight" has an agenda?

Whatever.

To me the Jeremy Renner Jeffrey Dahmer biopic and Boy Culture should have gotten the same awards because it's at that same caliber lol.

But whatever. I'm not watching it sorry.

I still think an agenda is at play and they just got lucky and was at the right place at the right time. Doesn't mean the film is good it's not.

It's an HBO network late night film. Sorry. lol.

Re: Am I the only one who thinks "Moonlight" has an agenda?

Just finished it.

Beautiful film.

Best?

Don't care.

Re: Am I the only one who thinks "Moonlight" has an agenda?

Have you ever tried not getting angry about everything and focus more on enjoying things you like? That is, if there is anything you do like.

Again, your opinion is completely worthless considering you haven't seen the film.

Re: Am I the only one who thinks "Moonlight" has an agenda?

Whatever. Because I refuse to watch some new movie that just barely came out a coupe months ago, I'm this evil person?

What fucking ever.

This is my opinion and I'm allowed to have it.

I gave you plenty of BLACK GAY films that nobody ever watches and are underrated.

Yet because this movie is new, people like it. No, classics never die. I'm a 90s baby.

If you're gonna come out with a new story, make it good, make it spicy.

Why I don't go to the movies or look at anything on TV nowadays. It's all the same shit.

I'm a black gay man and proud to be, and I don't need some average semi fictitious drama film to justify that one bit.

Re: Am I the only one who thinks "Moonlight" has an agenda?

I never seen Moonlight, and I don't think I ever will. Maybe if I'm half drunk and it's on HBO on Friday night or something like that. lol.

Very quickly, Moonlight is a drama film which all the characters and actors are black, and the two main characters are young gay black men who go through childhood being involved with each other, and it goes onto their teenage years and 20s still being together.

But I saw the trailer for it and the plot and everything way back a long time ago, and said this just looks like some amateur short college film. At best a movie of the week on Lifetime, BET, etc.

I appreciate how as young gay black man, this movie should realistically be the perfect epitome of me as a person and I should totally relate to it and be connected to it.

However, that shouldn't be the only factor into it.

There are tons of shows and movies that I like that have no black or gay characters which I love.

Would it be nice to see people who I can relate to, absolutely. But it's not the definining point.

Long story short, the Academy Awards or Golden globes?, I don't know, I don't watch that crap. Anyways, they came on over the weekend.

Moonlight won best picture, and I'm just really confused right now.

No I haven't seen the movie, but that's very dismissive. I know plenty enough about it to make the claim that it's not a critically acclaimed movie it's not.

In my opinion though, I think they are trying to throw some kind of agenda with this. I'm not saying nessarily the film makers on Moonlight are to blame or invovled, because they might be, but the academy awards, golden globes, all that shit does have some type of agenda with this movie.

It's a movie in my opinion that shouldn't have gotten farther than being shown late at night on BET, to all of a sudden winning best picture of the year?

They have an agenda, and it's to squash the black card and the gay card both at the same time.

You have Hidden Figures which I haven't seen as well, but I think is a way better acclaimed film than two homosexual black boys in love.

But because Moonlight is not only a black film, but a GAY film as well, that's where the agenda gets played.

I'm also pissed that none of the actors are queer men themselves. That's kinda shitty, but oh well.

What do you guys think. You agree or disagree with me?

Moonlight is a STEREOTYPICAL GAY FILM and that is the truth. I do like that a major Hollywood film is FINALLY About black gay men BUT the movie is beyond racist. Chiron the lead ends up as a drug dealer as an adult and his mother is a crackhead. Yes folks a movie about black people affected by drugs, violence, poverty and crime. It is just sad and pathetic the agenda was created by white liberals for sure. This film got the best picture Oscar because of the Oscar whiteout for the past two years.

Re: Am I the only one who thinks "Moonlight" has an agenda?

Yes, you're right. The Oscar member voters do have an agenda.

They VOTED this year in a belated cover up for last year's million-dollar 'national disgrace' when an angry Oprah and some other angry millionaire heavyweights placed a very big VETO on the big, multi-million-dollar schmoozefest.

Yup Pat Grimshaw once again speaks the truth! YES black actors are winning Oscars but also for such DEGRADING and RACIST STEREOTYPES. Halle Berry character in Monsters Ball was a WHORE. And as for the guy from Moonlight who won best supporting actor his character Juan was a DRUG DEALER LOL! Seriously people great blacks are winning Oscars but pathetic and sad they win for such degrading roles. When can a black actor win for playing a HERO?

Exactly, Moonlight is another N in the hood drama. Hollywood LOVES there black dysfunctional family films. This one just like Precious remember that one? Once again, the black family is fractured, mom is a crackhead, dad absent, and son in this one is gay a twist I guess the white liberal critics could not get enough of it. I agree it does come across as incredibly RACIST how white liberals praise films which show black people in the most negative light.

No your criticism of Taralen is WORTHLESS [Text: Removed]. Taralen has a RIGHT to his OPINION. Your comment is pathetic really, not everyone who is black and gay got to agree about the same things. I never saw Precious and I did not need to. A movie about a fat black girl and a crack addict black mother who sexually abuses her is pure garbage. I choose not to see movies about child abuse and I refuse to. So do not try to silence people who DISAGREE with you. [Text: Removed]

The men who wrote that movie wrote about their experience. Period.

My position literally has nothing to do about the content of the film and everything to do about criticizing a film while not even watching it. [Text: Removed]
