Poison, originally from Final Fight (early 90's) is set to be included in Street Fighter x Tekken, a cross over game.

Originally set to be a female, Japanese video game designers thought it would be too controversial to have women being beaten when Final Fight was released so they changed the gender to a pre op transsexual. The official website though confirms Poison is a transsexual by something along the lines of "a curvy woman but looks can be decieving".

Anyway, the game looks amazing. Can't wait to play it.

Given the strong stable of Street Fighter characters, it's an odd choice to go outside that universe. Particularly as Poison would be more suited to Marvel Vs Capcom. But then Capcom does whatever the hell it wants and it occasionally works.

I thought Vega was the first transsexual in Capcom.

Vega was always a male. He's just very pretty and vain.

I'm not too happy with the new character roster of Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. I don't think Poison would have been too fitting with that game anyway though.

I think it's cool how she still has her flip kick from Final Fight. Oh, and when Final Fight was released in the U.S. on the SNES way back in the 90's, they decided a transsexual would be too controversial, or more controversial than a woman getting physically beaten, so they replaced her (and pallete swap Roxy) with male characters (Billy and Sid) who had the exact same moves and movements. lol

Uhmm, but Guy and Cody are outside that universe, and have been since Street Fighter Alpha 2. Now they have 4 characters from Final Fight(her and Hugo, though I'm secretly wishing for 6 - Dean and Haggar).

And I couldn't be happier, although I kinda wish they hadn't given her a projectile.

Am just happy to see Poison in a fighting game as a playable character.

Does anyone play Marvel vs Capcom 3?

We already have a transsexual in Square Enix's Kingdom Hearts. I believe his name is Marluxia and he has pink hair. He was originally going to be made a female but was later scrapped for a male.

I FUCKING HATE THAT GAME!!!! Ok, that's a little strong, but it was definitely a let down. Especially considering it's the 1st game I paid full price for in awhile.

Still think for Marvel's side of the roster, Blink(X-universe) would be AWESOME!!!

Like the other Final Fight characters, Poison is a character within the Street Fighter universe, plus she was even Hugo's manager in SF3, so I don't think it's a waste of a spot that they put her in the game.

I'm glad that they put her in since I always wanted to use her. Hopefully she'll appear in the next installment of SF4, if they make one.

And I have to use your post to correct an earlier error of mine - there have been 6 Final Fight characters that came before Poison; Guy, Cody, Sodom, Rolento, Maki, and Hugo were all in Street Fighter games.

Well, Hugo and Poison debuted together in Street Fighter 3: Second Impact, which predated Maki's addition to the GBA port of SF Alpha 3. But Maki was playable before Poison was in SFxT.

I'd looove Haggar but I can't see them ever adding him in a game that also has Zangief. :(

Why do you hate it?

PS: I knew there were other transsexual characters in video games guys, another is Flea from Chrono Trigger, but this is the first in a fighting game as far as I know.

Cuz I suck at it, lol. Nah, there's just too much happening on-screen at one time...gives me a headache. Plus with all the charging I do on SSF4(Chun's my bitch) I keep mangling my analogs, and can't play fighting games with d-pad, or I guess I should say capcom fighting games, because I DO use the d-pad for Tekken & MK. MvsC with all the rolling attack motions...it's a crapshoot whether they'll actually work.

And before anyone says "just get another controller"...I've been through 3 this year, so far. Your boy's heavy-handed like a mofo.

I never had problems with the controls. They just took a little getting used to because they were a little different then the old MvC games. Too much crap going on in the screen at once is typical MvC gameplay.

Uhhh Poison only became trans after the game was ported because Americans are fucking ridiculous. "OH, my god! They're hitting women".

The previous installment's really didn't bother me too much, but part 3's just outta control, lol. As for the buttons, they're not the issue. It's just that for SSF4, I use Chun Li...ALOT, so I'm constantly holding the analog to charge. I'm just pressing to hard because they keep cracking.
