Trends and Fads That You Dislike

Boardies will never go away, they are a national dress here.

I am over certain catchphrases that go around particularly when people say "gurrrl"

People who say 'Oh Em Gee' out loud.

'Omg' should be seen and not heard.

People either love or HATE mohawks - i had a cabbie shake his cellphone in my face because of mine(wouldn't give me a ride home), i've had a lady try to school her little brat on why "they aren't a good look" right in front of me at work. But as Katt Williams said, "it's called SELF esteem... esteem of your motherfucking self!". If you let people run your sense of fashion(and we're excluding big business here), they will.

Oh, and Jheri curls were messy and expensive to maintain, but they(and mullets) still exist. They're just not in fashion. There's a customer that comes in to my store every month with a Jheri curl, looks to to be about in his 40's, and he doesn't seem to give a shit what people think. :)

I agree that you shouldn't let others dictate your style, but people do all the time. We all have at one point (or at least, the majority of us). We all have looked at an outfit we really liked but thought, "I'd look ridiculous wearing this." or "[Insert group of people] wouldn't let me live this down." Jheri curls and the mullet may still exist, but they're endangered species. Both have negative connontations nowadays and most impressionable kids through young adults wouldn't be caught dead with either.

We have a need to belong. When we're excluded, it hurts and many try to do what it takes to belong in the certain group. That's why so many guys refuse to wear Speedos. It's different if you don't wear them out of personal comfort and to not be embarassed in front of your peers. If the majority of the guys at a pool party were wearing them (especially if the popular/well-known guys are rocking them), you might find those same guys bulging in neon Speedos. Add in repetition (repeatedly seeing a large amount of guys in Speedos) and approval, and you have yourself a trend.

Jasun, I know deep inside that onyx heart is Gaga love ready to come gushing out! Embrace Mother Monster; she loves all her children!

YEah, I've heard those recordings of her dropping the kids off at the pool.

Oh, the naysayers are always the ones dressed in handstitched Gaga outfits singing Love Game in the mirror, twirling their custom disco schtick. :D

( to be fair... i've only heard Lady Gaga once when Jake Cruise was driving me to the airport in Miami once. It was ok.. not my thing. But it's fun to make fun of Britney Spears and Lady gaga fans.)

Tis okay. The Church of Gaga has released the bounty for your head. :D

The complete overuse of the terms "pwn/pwnage" "fail" & "epic."

Thank god (Goddess Gaga?) I'm not the only one. I'm irritated when people use "epic" for things that seem so trivial. It makes me think they need to expand their horizons, but to each their own I suppose.

I don't drink, actually. I also think binge drinking is lame.

But it's not a "fad" and hey.. if you wanna drink yourself into oblivion.. I say go ahead.

I'd rather hang out with people like that than Lady Fucking Gaga fans.

Who the fuck cares if it's not a fad. It's nothing to get so offended and hurt about especially if you don't drink yourself. I don't mind drinking but people who just drink a lot just to brag about it are douchebags. You wanna call that whinning then fine, people whine on this site all the time and you're one of the biggest whiners on this site. If that was considered whining then your Glee thread and Lady Gaga comment is whining and by what you just said "If they want to do it, go ahead." I don't know why you assumed I was a Lady Gaga fans when I only know like 2 songs from her.

You're learning. :D

Totally agree (if you didn't see my gigantic response earlier LOL). A good comeback isn't epic. A song you like isn't epic. The new fabric softener your mom bought isn't epic. Hardly anyone used that word until everyone wanted to jump on its pussy and make it a whore.

Way to derail the thread assholes!!!!1oneeleven

What do people think of the forum trend (for all types of forums) of posting captioned image responses?

Jasun I'm sure you realize that was sarcasm, based on the parody of multiple exclamation marks at the end of that sentence, right?

It's not like the derail of what's a frivolous thread in the first place matters.

yeah, it was more for the second part about images. To be honest, I've been meaning to do that one for a while.

OK, this explosion of phony paranoia deserves it's own post.

WHERE did I say you were a Lady Gaga fan?

How is that paranoia? You pretty much said it with out out right saying it. Defending yourself and then trying to come up with a comeback. It backfired.
