I think CF is trying to do some 'damage control' by butching up Brent. He's defintely the most obviously gay of the 'straight studs'. I suspect CF was receiving the usual complaints from closet homophobes, like 'get that damn faggot off your site!'

I think a dose of honesty would be the best way to spice up the CF site. Have at least some of these guys admit that it was curiosity as much as cash that drew them to the site. And have some of them just come out and admit that they are bi or gay.

Phunk I agree with your entire post. Especially the part i've highlighted. It's so frustrating that this myth that most gay men are effeminate still permiates the gay community. I've been following the CF related posts on this board for a couple of weeks, and I think a lot of guys are getting the on-screen personalities of these guys mixed up with the actual personalities of the actors on the site.

Corbin Fisher is a brand, selling a particular image to the porn market. The gay community in general seems to idealize hyper-masculinity, and the Corbin Fisher site works to fulfill the demand for the hot, straight (acting) frat-boy type. On some level, it works as fantasy fulfillment, getting to see the hottie you secretly glanced at in the locker room have gay sex.

Now, that's not to say that gay frat-guys (and frat-guy types that epitomize sites like CF) are not out there--I have friends who have been hit on by frat guys--but these guys are definitely in the minorty in both the gay community and the frat community.

Questions of true orientation aside, the actors on this site have an image to sell, and a job to perform in. They pick on-screen names, and more or less do the stuff the director asks them to do.

That said, some of these guys do a better job than others. If you're good, you will look like you enjoy it (cause who wants to see a guy look like he's being tortured into having sex?).

On the other hand, the price/benefits (depending on how you look at it) of seeming to enjoy the sex are the gay rumors. A lot of people post saying that they believe there's a "core audience" of CF viewers who believe unfallably that all the guys on there are straight and somehow psych themselves into thinkin that they are less gay for watching "straight" guys having sex, but I'm not sure this is the case. That's not to say that there isn't a constituency of closeted gay married types who wants to identify with these "straight" guys and convience themselves they're not really gay because they're watching straight guys, but I don't think this is the majority.

Society in general is suspicious of the orientation of any guys who sleep with each other, and in combination with this general tendency, a lot of the guys watching these videos project themselves into the image, and really want these guys to be gay because, on some level, they want these guys all for themselves.

Now, this doesn't mean that they're not having a good time while they're doing it, because sex feels good in general. It just means that we can't necessarily determine the orientation of a guy based on a screen-persona. Sexual action is not always the same as primary sexual orientation, and some may disagree with me, but I don't think having occasional m2m sex under scripted situations necessarily makes a guy gay.

I know a guy who has crewed for a gay porn site video, and most of the guys performing in the videos were straight. That's not to say that some of the "models" are really gay but just pretending they aren't, but I'd be surprised if that was the norm.

So, to conclude (damn, what a long post!), we really can't tell who is gay and who isn't just based on the limited and highly controlled videos we see on the screen. Are Lucas and Dawson totally gay-for-pay while Cade and Brent might actually have some true "feelings" for each other? Well, it seems that way sometimes, though chances are that the people behind these characters are actually straight when they're not hanging out with good ole' Corban. The only thing that's certain is that Corbin Fisher wants this speculation to continue, since that's what fuels interest in the site for a significant, skeptical/projecting segment of the viewers.

Ordinarily I'd agree with you, but for the fact that, unlike your typical 'gay for pay' falcon stud, these guys are very young. And they're not terrific actors, either. The mainstream guys are secure in both their sexuality and know the value of a buck.
