No plans to travel abroad, just want it for ID.
Yesterday was interesting. I was woken up by a female voice just before 7AM. When I got my senses settled, realized it was the new alarm telling me there was a power outage. The entire reservation, which is served by the Bureau of Indian Affairs and some of the areas in Arizona serviced by APS, a private utility, where without power. Returning home after folder duty, l laid down and listened to a pocket radio until the power returned about 12:30 PM. I then slept until 4:30PM.
UPDATE: Power was fully restored by 1:10 p.m.
The Parker Valley on the Colorado River Indian Reservation is experiencing a power outage on the morning of Thursday, Feb. 2. An announcement from the CRIT COVID-19 Response Team at 11 a.m. on the CRIT Media Facebook page said the outage began at 6:45 a.m., and was caused by a malfunction in a transformer owned by the Western Area Power Administration.
The area is served by the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
The COVID-19 Response Team stated the estimate for when power will be restored in 12 noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday.
A warming center has been set up for Tribal members who need one in the Mohave 1 and 2 conference rooms at the BlueWater Resort & Casino, which is located north of Parker on State Route 95. It will remain open until all power is restored.
Justin Moore of the CRIT Senior Center posted the following on the CRIT Media Facebook page: Senior Center’s (BIA) power is out and there is no estimated time when it will be back on. Congregate meals and scheduled activities for today are canceled. We will still be delivering meals to our clients today. Our phone is out here at the center. Should you need to get ahold of me, please fb message me. Thank you.”
Anisa Patch posted this on the CRIT Media Page: “Some phone lines might not be working. For those at CRIT affected, their departments will not be at work until further notice. Others and enterprises have generators and will be at work. Thank you to those who came to work and doing their part. Let's hope BIA gets this fixed soon.”
At 1 p.m., the CRIT Media Facebook page reported power was gradually being restored. Le Pera Elementary School, which is located on Tribal land south of Poston, said power had been restored and parent-teacher conferences scheduled for 2 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. will go on as scheduled.
Tribal members who are BIA customers should direct their questions to BIA Electric at 928-669-7173.
Today I woke up at 3AM and couldn't get back to sleep, finally getting up at 9AM. I feel like going back to bed.
Glad to hear your mood is improved today, Rob
