Now I have a head cold.

Life in the wilderness is different. 120F+ in the summer and 30F- in the winter. Mostly dry, but there have been massive rain storms. In the 1980s one poured down 8 inches in 6 hours. The wash behind my old place ran 10 feet deep. With the blizzard that hit the Los Angeles area, I was disappointed we only got a light all night rain.

My eyes are watering so much I can hardy see the screen, so good by for now. I hope everyone had a good weekend and will survive Monday.

That chicken soup with carrots looks good and healthy. I had something at the restaurant last night they called carrot cream soup. It had a good orange carrot color, but I was surprised that it tasted strongly of heavy cheese, like a fondue or something.

Good evening, Gary. I’m glad you are feeling better. I like that view of the snow capped mountains. I don’t have any views like that over here, but here’s a favourite scene of mine, taken from a bike ride some 9 years ago. It’s from the top of the East Yorkshire Wolds, looking across The Vale of York, to the Pennines. The weather was really good that summer’s day.

Good evening, Gary. I hope you are having a great day today. I’m okay but not looking forward to all the snow which forecast for the rest of the week.

Now here’s a photo of a piece of bad trackwork in Sheffield station which I took earlier today. It’s a joint where the rails are joined in a misaligned V shape, and you can see wear on the railheads from it. For not only is it a badly aligned joint, it is dipping down too. I think it’s only a matter of time before there’s a derailment…
