Good evening all. Hope you are doing well, tonight.
Well, I'm having trouble downloading multi-part video files. When I download them, the first part (filename.wmv.001) will play just fine in Windows Media Player. But when I play subsequest parts (extentions .002, .003, etc.), I always get this message...
'Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file.'
I get that message also when I go to play part 001, but it asks me if I want to Media Player to try and play the file any way. I tell it yes. I have no trouble, and the part 001 plays just fine. When I go to play the subsequent parts, they will not play at all.
Also, I've tried merging the various parts of the video files together. It doesn't work. In the merging process, part 001 works just fine, but part(s) 002, etc. always come back as corrupt/bad files, etc., and I know it's not that.
Now, I've looked at the K-Lite Codec Pack, mentioned in an earlier thread on here, a few years ago, but that won't work for what I need. I've tried to search Google, etc. for an 002 codec to no avail.
I have a laptop with Windows 7 and Windows Media Player Version 12, if that helps any.
Is there a way I can play these files that I know are legit and good?
Any and all advice greatly appreciated in advance. Thanks.
