True Detective

We'll have to see.

It's an anthology series so this season is all we'll get of Matt and Woody.

It was REALLY mellow and slow to be honest. But frankly, very eerie, and it kind of picked up at the end. I didn't really think the killer seemed that frightening.

It's only the first episode, I think it'll get better.

I've seen the first episode here in Australia and the next one is on Monday night. I really enjoyed it. It holds the audience and I think a lot of that comes down to the script and Matthew & Woody.

What I like most about this so far is the McConaughey character. There seems to be a lot of development in his character between 95 to 2012 that has yet to be explained, but is compelling enough to watch more of. Woody seems a bit flat and the initial crime isn't particularly interesting so far. I also like the eerie desert atmosphere.

I kinda dig that there was a Super Bowl break as there only 5 episodes left for this series, and I can't really get enough.

Episode 4: "Who goes there"

Whoa.

It was worth the wait.

Down to the last episode.

I envy anyone who hasn't watched yet.

I may be the only one who didn't think it was all that great. It was decent but I am struggling to see what all the fuss is about. It was not spectacular.

The show was hard to get into. The first few episodes were very slow. I didn't like any of the characters. I almost stopped watching. I pushed ahead to see what all the rave was about and now that I have finished, I am still not sure.

To each their own, I guess.

I agree. I tried to watch it, but gave up at episode 3 or 4. It was dull, slow moving and Woody Harrelson's character drove me to distraction.

It had too many strands for a short series. Too many bits and pieces and no real focus on the criminal investigation.

I have no idea who did it but I was really hoping it was the woman who played Harrelson's mistress.

It was fucking brilliant with two great, great performances. It created such an incredible atmosphere, at times slow but never boring, and raucous, terrifying, and ultimately uber satisfying. I loved it.

It was great. Definitely a character piece instead of there being a 'twist'.

I hope the rumors of trying to get Brad Pitt are true! That'd be HUGEEE!!

The characters were exceptionally well developed, but the plot was just okay. I thought overall it was good, but definatly not as amazing as people make it out to be. I lost some respect for the writing when McConaughey had that "warm feeling" epiphany at the end. It's such a cliche and is a bit insulting. (I hope that wasn't too confusing, I didn't wnt to spoil anything.)

Definitely a character piece

Right.

Everything has to be explosions, shoot-outs, and car chases? Slow?

It was many things, but mainly a really enjoyable character study. And the metamorphoses of the lead characters was the star.
