So a couple Friday's ago my lesbian friends hosted a dinner and poker party at their house out in the country. A straight guy named Cody, who one of the hosts hadn't seen in ten years (and nobody else knew) catches a ride in from the city with a 24-pack of beer. He's kind of a punkish-looking guy with shaved head and funny goatee, someone I didn't like the look of, but seemed nice at first.
My friend doesn't like drunks so she commented on how many beer he brought. He said it wasn't all for that night and that he was going to another friends for a couple nights after that in the same part of town.
As the night progresses Cody drinks many of his beer and gets extremely drunk and obnoxious. When another gay woman comes over (with short hair and a baseball cap) he without warning grabs her by the back of the neck and holds a closed fist to her face and says to the hosts, "Do you know this guy? Do you know this guy?" Everyone was shocked and gasped. A couple people jumped up and called him off, and tried to take away his beer, which was amazingly number 20 at this point.
ey try to get him to lie down and go to sleep, and he holds up his fists again to my friend who knows him. He didn't actually swing and he was so drunk he probably wouldn't have even hit the target, but still.
They were all pretty good at de-escalating the situation although I wasn't as understanding or patient. I wanted to call 911 and have him taken to a drunk tank but they didn't want to get the cops involved (bad decision).
They eventually get him to sleep on the couch and everyone went to bed. In the morning my early-risiCody eventually held a closed fist to another woman, then lunges for no reason at all at another straight guy. Their neighbor held him back and seemed to calm him down. Then thng friend came downstairs and Cody was already awake, but still a bit drunk. Apparently he hadn't gone to the bathroom all night and pissed the 20 beers worth on their expensive couch, which my friend is very protective of. He admitted it and apologized.
She came back upstairs to get a number for a restoration company and tell everyone what had happened, and when she came back down he was gone. There was a crumpled $20 bill on the counter. He later text-messaged her saying he was walking home, which was an hour drive, so I can't imagine how long it took him to walk. It was more than an hour later and apparently he was only at the next highway exit. He could have hitch-hiked home but he was wet and stunk like piss, since it was all over him.
My friend got a restoration company the same day to save the couch. The guy had to do stuff to the couch they normally only do for crime scenes. Total cost, $200. She gave the guy Cody's last remaining four beers as a tip.
Ten days go by and he eventually says hi to her on Facebook. She responded by letting him know he owes her $180 for the restoration bill, as well as an apology to the people he threatened.
And do you know what he says? He can't go back in time, he was drunk and sleep-deprived, and while he admits that doesn't excuse him for being an ass, what happened happened and so be it. He won't pay the restoration bill. He says the apology she got that morning was all they'll get. (I know because she forwarded me the message.) He then de-friended her.
I told her to sue him in small claims but she doesn't ever want to see him again and just be done with it.
Can you believe that? I can't. I've never seen anything like it.
