The shakedown continues.

Northwestern University has agreed to pay the U.S. Treasury $75 million, over the course of three years as part of an agreement with the federal government to restore funding and end investigations into the university.

I don't even understand the nature of this agreement. The university gets back hundreds of millions for research, but gives 75 million back.

I suspect that the fine print says that the university will allow the government to review and approve specific research grants.

This will hopefully ensure that the NIH Kristian nationalist nutjobs will be somewhat more restricted in awarding grants although I suspect the dmage is done and the preference will still likely go to creationist
and anti-science garbage 'research'.

Another loss for TrumpCo.

Again, this was one of those shock and awe performance pieces by the Trump team as they tried to seize hold of colleges, universities and under Musk, to erase any DEI
initiatives anywhere in the US.

That whole campign has petered out as case after case has been decided against the Feds and the actual tools to force complaince have never successfully been put in place.

Thi is good to see. TrumpCo. can sue all they want, but their suit will fail. The Universities and coleges that folded like cheap lawn chairs just capitulated to an autocrat.

The midterms can't come fast enough.

Honestly, if the US has a billion dollars a day and needs an extra 200B to fight a useless and aimless war in the middle east, it can provide relief to student borrowers...many woho have long paid back the face value of their loans but have been raped by the US Gov. in order to keep them in financial slaveitude.
