On-Topic Trump Bans Syrian Refugees

^ Who needs to show you evidence when they are blatantly open about it and brag about it on social media? You would see it everywhere if you would only open your eyes. Oh, and may read a bit of news.

One of the more outrageously hilarious things about all of this, is that we are well beyond the 90 day or 120 day period that the orders covered.

By this time, one expects that the US has now improved their vetting procedures and 'figured things out' as Trump claimed the order would let them do.

Or more insidiously, the Order, if it were to be enacted, would continually be expanded as the White House pushed the absolute limits of its power.

Well I'll be darned.

The 9th stood by the ruling on Appeal.

Trump must be so chuffed with all the 'wins' on this ban....sooooo much winning....you'll be tired of winning.......

At this stage, the Supreme Court now has two circuits holding fast as the case moves towards them.

So.

Do they take it up?

Or dodge the bullet by allowing the circuit rulings to stand?

Trump reluctantly took Iraq off the list, having recklessly antagonized a government we say we support in fighting extremism in their own country that might not have become such a problem had the Bush administration not been so fixated at removing Saddam Hussein at all costs. That was also the country he derided as not being a real nation and we should have taken control over their oil for all the money we spent on the war there(which they never requested anyway).

Now he gets a partial win at least for the time being and three of the conservatives at least would have gone for approving the full Trump ban policy. None of the countries are in nations he had substantive business interests... Saudi Arabia produced most of the 9/11 terrorists but it is nowhere on the list... neither are any countries in the Muslim world with significant business ties to Trump. It's just an arbitrary list of states from where few if any actual real problematic visitors ever caused any problems. Our vetting standards have developed to be far more thorough than in much of Europe already and a policy this harsh is simply not necessary.

^ It's hardly a victory. Trump had to 'give in'. If anything, it was a compromise on Trump's part. Otherwise, there would be even less winning than there is. And it's only taken 6 months, retries, and the courts just to get this far. That is not 'winning'. It's barely even an 'accomplishment'.

Winning. So much winning. It's a unanimous, clear victory.

Hardly a clear victory. They have narrowed the class considerably to ensure that anyone with a valid visa or a relationship with a business or person in the USA is not restricted from entry.

Only Trump and his TrumpCo. fartcatchers would think this smells like total victory...but you are a perfect example of the no information Trump supporter who would applaud anything he does.

If he only excludes a few terrorists it is victory. And this is a harbinger of a larger victory to come.

No one said total victory. But still, to me I smell sour grapes. and :=D:.

Trump is claiming total victory. But the only thing that has happened is that tourist visas for first time visitors from these countries have been affected.

And the SC has pulled a perfect punt. By the time the case is heard, the 90 day period will have expired and the 120 period will almost be up as well.

It is all about mootness at this point.
