Trump is constantly lying right through his teeth

And he will be the republican nominee.

Who else here thinks he's trolling the republican party by appearing to be giving all the bigots in the republican party some credence?

Haha, Hillary will steam roller him next year.

I think every presidential nominee from a major political party is a statement not only about the party but about the people who voted the nomination in the first place.

Got into a nasty argument (well on her part anyway) with the wife of a cousin who was telling Donald's celebrating Jersey Muslims story. She was positively relishing the vile and obviously despicable behavior of those nasty Muslims. It basically went like this:

Bobblehead: Muslims was dancing in the streets on 9/11!

Beau: But that's not true, Trump is using hyperbole.

Bobblehead: WHAT! YOU TAKE THAT BACK! He's not on no drugs nosiree! (Not really, but she really didn't know what hyperbole was)

Bobblehead: He wouldn't say that ifin it didn't happen!

Beau: Then where are is the data?

Bobblehead: (diatribe summarized) YOU PEOPLE (she knows I'm gay and it pisses her off that I refuse to hide my shame from decent folk) and your LIBURUL media done STOLE THE TAPES (spittle flying) You want to destroy the man for being decent and god a'fearin"! (thinly veiled jab at my perversion)

Beau: He says things like that because he knows you will support the sentiment and excuse the absence of fact.

Bobblehead: Those Muslims would stone you to death (possibly not the only point of agreement she has with ISIS, she used to say the French got what they deserved back in the days of Freedom Fries) WHY DO YOU WANT THEM TO WIN!

Beau: Whether or not ISIS wants me dead, and whatever my opinion on their victory or lack of it - it still remains that Trump lied.

Bobblehead: AHA! You DO want them to win!

At which point she claimed victory and sailed off into the crown husband in tow. Irrational people will be irrational. Oh well I got a good laugh out of it. What I found most interesting was that there didn't seem to be a huge following for any of the candidates in my conservative family and friends straw poll. Bush probably got the most nods surprisingly, and while plenty of them agreed that we need to be tougher on the "Muslims," Trump was not wildly popular. They don't like Cruz - as one of my great uncles once put it "That boy thinks he's a white man, and we don't need no Mex'can in the White House!"

I'm stumped this year, usually one can get a feel for things from where these people are likely to jump, but they seem pretty scattered this year.

Why do you attempt to reason with idiots?

Why do you attempt to reason with idiots?

It's like releasing the pressure, I find that if I piss off the haters in little bits a lot, I don't have to blow up spectacularly once in awhile. Besides it's fun to watch them inflate with righteous dudgeon then pop them like pricked balloons.

We all have issues but Republicans seem to have more of them, this is political science....

Trump is an electable candidate, he could win a general election, however the republican party would rather lose with one of their establishment candidates than let trump win, who the gop is trying to make a caricature of everything 'negative' about the republican party, not a winning strategy. If that is their strategy they are not serious about winning. Hes not someone they can control, who is the facist now? GOP is incredibly tone deaf as an organization, not a surprise as its mostly crusty old white men.

Sure Trump appeals to racists and bigots, but hes not unique in that in the GOP field or even among all politicians or all people. I guarantee you can find plenty of racists that voted for Obama and plenty of pro-choice people that voted for Romney. Since hes not an establishment candidate, people from all over are attacking him and I dont understand why. Trump is the most liberal person in the GOP field of candidates, that is why he is 'ahead' because hes talking about things that matter to ordinary people.

What is good for the most people is bad for the republican party and bad for business, and that is what OUTSIDER candidates like Sanders and Trump offer. That is where all the media spin and attack comes from, and why the media and popular opinions about Trump are dead wrong.

Do you honestly believe Trump believes the things he says? Of course he doesnt, if you think he does then you really have no idea how politics work.

Since he is the 'convenient' front-runner, for some reason the GOP seems completely out of touch with the fact that attacking him for being what they have been all along only imprints those negative impressions onto their front-runner who actually stands the best shot at winning.
The gop has never really proven they can appeal to independant voters, so why are they trying to play it safe with one of their other unelectable failures?

Saying Trump is lying through is teeth is like suggesting that Hillary Clinton might have wall street ties and voted for the Iraq war, its mostly true!

Donald Trump represents what todays GOP stands for today.

Disagree 100%. The GOP stands for what the GOP stands for today. If he stood for what the GOP stood for then he would be at 1% in the polls like everyone else, right?

Trump supports taxing the rich, as did Romney.
Trump was pro-choice before hew as pro-life, just like Romney.
Trump doesnt belive what he says, just what will get him votes.
Before Romney was McCain, another 'moderate', he wasnt moderate because hes a liberal, hes a moderate because he didnt agree with the GOP.
Trump is moderate to left leaning candidate, pretty easy to see if you understand his positions over the years.

Sarah Palin wasnt that smart, I think she may have believed all those things she said, or just didnt know what she was talking about.

We all lie to ourselves about reality. Mostly, though, our lies are insignificant things that have no measurable effect on anything. Trump is one of the pathological sorts who somewhere along the line kept telling himself bigger and bigger lies, a process fueled by people believing them because of his success in getting rich.

He doesnt lie because hes stupid he does it because hes smart. If i was a republican in a republican nominating process I would lie too. Republicans are held to much much lower standards than Democrats when it comes to honesty. a big reason so many questions linger over Hillary and nobody really notices how many times Bush lied. If you dont lie as a republican you are giving away a huge amount of support.
Remember when Obama 'lied' about keeping your plan and your doctor under Obamacare? It may have been an inadvertent lie, but essentially an un-truth and people are still going to town on Obamacare and how 'fee' and 'tax' and 'penalty' are basically a tax said the court, republicans took that to the bank. Fortunately nobody cares when republicans call out democrats on these things, but democrats sure as hell do care about trust and honesty within their own party, that is a main difference between GOP and democrats.

He doesnt lie because hes stupid he does it because hes smart.

Everything about Trump, from how he talks to what he says to even how he gestures, oozes the impression of a knuckledragging moron.

If he's successfully pulling that off on purpose due to an expansive high intelligence and tremendous acting ability, that makes it worse that he'd artificially adopt these positions.. not better.

I do not believe -anything- underlines the widespread belief out there that "really, he's smart and fooling everyone" other than the fact that Americans worship money and think that anyone who has a lot of it must be a bloody genius.

If you read the comments on any Trump news post its very apparent the demographic he is attracting. He is doing it on purpose. He is as capable of being the President as Chef Ramsey

I wouldn't call Trump smart, it doesn't take that much intelligence to play a party line. Especially the Neanderthals he appeals to.

Exactly this.

Trump wants to win by any means necessary. He really is a genius. Not only is he securing the right wing voting ticket but he is awaking the sleeping population that usually doesn't come out and vote and it is with those people that are angry and feel hopeless that he will use to topple Hilary.

For the record, I don't even think he's anti-gay marriage or even pro-life. He has a history of claiming how wonderful it is that gays can adopt. Just google comments regarding Rosie and her kids. He accidentally said he was pro-choice and had to excuse himself and correct himself in an interview of what his republican position is.

He's just lying, and he's doing it so well that it's going to secure him the nomination. Bill Maher said it best when he said Donald Trump has his thumb on the pulse of America. I expect the voting turnout to be huge and if it were held this week... I feel strongly that Trump will win.

Trump is ok and will prevent wars i think-H Clinton is a joke and belongs in prison

Actually he's put the Republicans in a quandary, because if he gets the nomination then he's going to lose a good portion of the 75% of 'Pubs who don't want him, either to the Dems or to inactivity, while if he loses the nomination at this point it looks like they might lose the 25% that are supporting him now. Either way, that's a painful decision to have to make and most probably will lose them the election. They have to find a way to reconcile the extremists who want Trump and his bigotry, with the rest of the party not so extremists who don't want Trump, unfortunately they don't seem to have a candidate yet who fits that bill, and I doubt they can force that one on Paul Ryan!

It's utterly irrelevant if he "believes" his shtick or not.

Agreed.

I really don't know why ever since the start of his candidacy, people have felt compelled to go around pronouncing that he's trolling the whole process and fooling everybody. I don't see what difference that makes. His message is one that resonates with the majority of Republican voters, who are driven largely by their suppressed hate of other demographics and low-information kneejerk policy ideas. Whether he has authentically or falsely adopted this message doesn't seem to make a difference.

.

...and that is why if you are in a state that allows you to vote across party lines for any candidate in the primary...a vote for Trump is a vote for Hillary.....|

hahahahaha

Topple Hillary?

Are you delerious?

If you feel that Trump will win you are not paying attention, the last time I looked was yesterday and he dropped 12 points.

It think that when the beatings at his rallies got his endorsement, it gave people pause.

His Paris comments, that and his insulting of a physical disabled person all in a row didn't help him by any means. For the people who took too long to catch on, it really showed he has no empathy.
