Trump Slams Protections For Immigrants From ‘Shithole’ Countries

Different provinces have different entry requirements, and I do remember that Quebec was less burdensome...but ALL of Quebec is far, far north of my "Do Not Cross!" line. Windsor, Ontario was my "bulls-eye" - no other destination was even considered (other than Hamilton on, perhaps, my D-list) because of winter. London is a damned snow belt (Windsor isn't), T. O. just too cold, period. Not that Windsor doesn't get snow (they do!), just no more than amounts of snow that I've grown up with.

I certainly found myself considering the fact that cool places like Austin, Athens, Asheville, Chapel Hill are in STATES like Texas, Georgia, North Carolina (and therefore ruled, to some degree, by whatever shit gets passed in the Capitals)...and North Carolina has had some horrific shit passed in recent years. I like Pittsburgh, but it's in friggin' Pennsylvania which, also, is mostly ruled by Republicans...and forget about Florida...just forget it...

I didn't intend to be a "northern guy" for life, necessarily, but politics forced it.

I also found out that the costs of moving and living in anyplace in California that I would really like, would have been horrific - well more than DOUBLE the price of Chicago.

Even Chicago is about fifty miles north of my "Do Not Cross!" winter line, but it has to do.

Austin is actually more politically Liberal than L.A. In L.A. they are incidentally Liberal, but mostly don't know what that has to do with much. In Austin it's quite clear what you are fighting against - of course in places like S.F. that isn't the case, but then off the coast in CA it's Texas - quite completely. The big difference is that CA has better social services than Texas (of course.) I sometimes wish I had stayed put. I left because my crappy apartment in L.A. cost me an obscene amount of cash that would afford me a palace in Austin, back then, it's no longer the case.

I should have moved to Quebec.

^ That report actually made me laugh. No debating about saying it, but whether he said 'shithole' or 'shithouse'. If they're looking for a diversion tactic, this isn't it. That's like debating whether it's worse living in a septic tank or a cesspool.

Now they are debating whether the Donald said "Shithole" or "Shithouse" ](*,)

http://www.thenewcivilrightsmovemen...ators_think_trump_said_shithouse_not_shithole

The leader of the United States should not be thinking either let alone saying it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only reason this was even mooted was so that it gave the GOP senators some cover in order to claim in the media that they didn't think Trump said 'shithole'.

They learned this from Bill Clinton with the 'I didn't have sex with THAT woman.

Don't think they learned it from BC. . .IMO they've always had that capability. . .distract, discombobulate, divert, dizzy, deny, etc. ad infinitum, ad nauseaum :rotflmao:

He's still denying having said anything untoward even as the senator friends are debating whether he said 'shithole' or 'shithouse'. It takes guts to out and out lie when so many people are saying that you did it... and these are people on HIS side.

"No, No. I'm not a racist," Trump told reporters who asked for his response to those who think he is a racist. "I am the least racist person you have ever interviewed. That I can tell you."

I imagine some of us are from Norway. The rest of us came (and some of us were stolen) from shithole countries and we built a nation of dignity and invitation. He has insulted all of us.

True enough. The great waves of immigration to the U.S. have all come because some other country was a shithole and people wanted a better place/life. That includes the great waves from Ireland and Germany, which have been shitholes off and on.

Though there's an intriguing connection there: Ireland and Germany became shitholes because of imperialism, and at least one of the countries Trump has in mind qualifies as a shithole -- and it is because of imperialism, in this case U.S. imperialism.

Re: "Shithole countries"

One would think a man with "balls of steel" would own up to all his bullshit instead of blaming it on everyone else. I can't think of a single thing that he's taken responsibility for.

The only balls of steel he's got are the ones which are 'Destroying America Again' a bit more every single day, the ones that are making a very small percentage of Americans a whole lot richer by his own admission and every other American poorer by his own denial to pay for the $1.5 trillion he is adding to the national debt.

Has there ever been a bigger thief in the White House?

Bigger thief? Probably not. But he is in the running to replace the term "Hooverville" with "Trumpville".

Re: "Shithole countries"

Well, now it's being debated IF he actually said it the way it's being reported, but one thing is for sure, it's your heroine and her pilfering of their relief millions (via the Clinton Foundation) that keeps Haiti on that list of shitholes in the first place.

http://www.cnn.com/2010/OPINION/01/25/doctors.haiti.hardships/index.html

No, it isn't. Haiti qualifies as a shithole, but it does because of U.S. imperialism of the type Trump advocates. Even most U.S. "help" to Haiti has only made things worse.

And your article actually provides evidence of that -- while not doing one single thing to support the claim you just made.

You like honesty? Ok -- fucking GROW UP.

^ My friend ended up scuttling the plans to move to Canada, because he did NOT want to pay Customs about the same price as a HOUSE just to bring in about 15,000 or 20,000 vinyl records. Even at that time I had around 200,000 of them.

That's a really inane policy on Canada's part; you'd think they'd welcome people moving there with gobs of stuff since it pretty much proves they have the means to support themselves.

So we've heard from Durbin and Graham, who say that YES he was profane; Perdue and Cotton first COULDN'T REMEMBER if he said it, but now they're saying he DIDN'T. Uh, if they don't REMEMBER if he said it or not, HOW do they now know that he didn't?

And what in the hell happened with the other three Republicans who were in the room (besides D...ump)? Nothing at all from them, nothing at all?

What chickenshits.

That's what I would have thought, too. Apparently it doesn't matter...and he was trying to move to QUEBEC not Ontario.

I think that Canada JUST ASSUMES that all Americans trying to move there are (what-I-call) HEALTH CARE REFUGEES.

I think rather it's just that they don't want ordinary people, only ones rich enough to laugh off the cost and move there anyway, or maybe to force people to sell all their stuff and buy replacement stuff in Canada.

^ Trouble is, it would have been UTTERLY impossible to even begin to "replace" my stuff by sourcing Canadian. Even forty years ago, Canada was a crummy place to find the exact kind of stuff I specialize in (and have amassed tons and tons of).

Yeah. It seems like a policy someone like Trump would love.
