Re: Trump Staff Picks

One of Yrumps plans is to reduce the federal bureaucracy. Leaving some slots unfilled is one way to start. That government is best which governs least.

Well, that's good for Trump then. He won't be governing. He'll be dictating.

Re: Trump Staff Picks

^ Ah, but he's making the government website smaller, too. It's easier to govern when there aren't as many pages telling him what he has to do.

EDIT: I think now that the pages have been removed from the government website so American citizens won't know what Trump SHOULD be doing.

Re: Trump Staff Picks

30 out of 690 is not "some."
Apparently, they did hire a webmaster because the whitehouse.gov website has already been updated.

The LGBT page that was there yesterday is gone (the Obama archived version is here). Yes, that's probably a sign.

The page for the White House Office of National AIDS Policy is gone. Apparently all of the staff has been laid off and the Office itself no longer exists. The now former director of the Office under Obama (Amy Lansky) sent out a Tweet thanking everyone for their support.

There's also a rumor that Trump has appointed an Assistant to Attorney General nominee. That assistant will head the Justice Department's Civil Rights Division. The rumor is that John Gore will be the nominee. Last week, Gore withdrew from counsel for the University of North Carolina in their defense of HB2- the "bathroom bill" that the state of North Carolina has continued to support in spite of their loss of millions of dollars in revenue and loss of jobs due to a boycott of the state of North Carolina.
Donald Trump has tapped lawyer John Gore, who defended the University of North Carolina system in a legal challenge over the state's anti-LGBT law, to be the deputy assistant attorney general for the Justice Department's Civil Rights Division.

Gore is a partner at Jones Day, the Trump campaign's law firm. Jones Day announced that Gore and several other lawyers with the firm will be joining the Trump administration.

But there is a page for Melania. It includes the following information:
Mrs. Trump cares deeply about issues impacting women and children, and she has focused her platform as First Lady on the problem of cyber bullying among our youth.
Melania is also a successful entrepreneur. In April 2010, Melania Trump launched her own jewelry collection.
They haven't added a link to the QVC website yet, though.

Re: Trump Staff Picks

No one can represent all Americans. We are far too divided, too diverse, too multicultural.

No so. I refer you to Barry Goldwater -- he knew how:

" And if I should later be attacked for neglecting my constituents' 'interests', I shall reply that I was informed that their main interest is liberty and that in that cause I am doing the very best I can."

Re: Trump Staff Picks

And even scarier- there's thousands of appointees that haven't even been named. While many of these nominees don't require Senate confirmation, they do require ethics reviews and security clearances- those take weeks to perform. Is there even a functioning government at this point? Does Trump really believe that he can take weekends off when there's so few key positions that have been vetted, appointed and confirmed?

The Obama administration has written 275 briefing papers for the incoming Trump administration: nearly 1,000 pages of classified material on North Korea’s nuclear program, the military campaign against the Islamic State, tensions in the South China Sea, and every other kind of threat the new team could face in its first weeks in office.

Nobody in the current administration knows whether anyone in the next has read any of it.

Perhaps the scariest part of that is that foreign countries not uncommonly use the first period of a new president's term to play games and see what they can get away with.

Scores of those positions have to do with running the military. I suppose you're going to tell us that the military works best when its head is effectively cut off from the body.

That is pretty scary.

Re: Trump Staff Picks

^ Well since one of his senior picks doesn't necessarily believe that AIDS is caused by HIV....I imagine that the Trump White House will just go back to the days of Ronnie and Nancy and just ignore it entirely.

Re: Trump Staff Picks

On Jan. 20, Betsy DeVos — Trump’s nominee to head the Department of Education — tweeted that she was “Honored to witness the historical Inauguration and swearing-in ceremony for the 45th President of the United States.” There are multiple grammatical problems with this tweet. For example, “historical” should be “historic,” “Inauguration” should not be capitalized in this usage, and “for” only works with “swearing-in ceremony” and not with “inauguration.” The tweet should have read: “Honored to witness the historic inauguration of, and swearing-in ceremony for, the 45th President of the United States.” (Which is admittedly a little awkward, but at least not incorrect in several ways.)

A good public school education might have prepared her to communicate her thoughts using correct English.

Sean Spicer and "we can disagree with facts", technically you can but then you are just an idiot. Facts are not like opinions.

Our Country is just going to get more stupid by the fucking minute because of these people.

Quoted for truth.

But Stupid is essential to authoritarianism. They know that.

Re: Trump Staff Picks

Obviously a new administration should remove the parts of the website which do not reflect its policies and priorities, and should remove them at once without waiting for replacement, to avoid misleading. I do not expect the gay agenda to be a priority. I hope the GOP will end the non discrimination laws, which together with affirmative action laws have degenerated to being anti-white male laws.
I don't know what the aids page said but it was probably more rhetoric than substance.

None of what you said is correct. Stop spreading your pro-white agenda.

So, to all the millions of Americans to whom those pages apply and offer some assistance and information, Trump's government is saying, "Fuck you. You won't get any help from us."

So, "for all Americans" was just another lie.
