Trump Staff Picks, Co-Conspirators and the Revolving Door of Departures

To be fair, all of these "rats" jumping from a sinking ship are only doing the only practical thing at this point: looking for a new job.

I remember back in 2017 there were reports of people who were working under Obama and Hillary having trouble finding a job in Washington after Trump swore in. I would imagine the same thing will happen this time around except with the other side.

That said, from everything I have read, Trump sounds like the worst boss to work for. I have had toxic bosses before, and it was certainly not healthy to work under them. I looked for every chance I could find to get the hell out of there.

Read his resignation letter. It sounds a lot like the letter written by Trump's gastroenterologist. Both men seem to have been far up into Trump's ass.

I imagine that part of Barr's payoff for his silence was that TrumpCo. got to write the letter.

Although Barr is such an evil, obsequious fuckwad that maybe he really would have taken cyanide in the bunker with Trump.

Now we'll never know.

Delusional Trump Administration Is Threatening to Fire Anyone Looking for a New Job [Vanity Fair]
Historically, when presidential administrations are winding down, either because they’re a few months from completing a second term or because they’re not getting one on account of being booted from office by the American people, low- to mid-level noncareer staffers start looking for new jobs...

According to a senior administration official, John McEntee, director of the White House Presidential Personnel Office, is spreading the word throughout the administration that if he hears of anyone looking for another job they will be fired. The news is dismaying to many members of the Trump administration who worry especially about young staffers who will soon need other sources of income given the fact that President Trump lost the election.

John McEntee was fired as Trump’s body man in March 2018 over “gambling debts that threatened his security clearance,” then rehired in February 2020 and tasked with purging supposedly disloyal appointees from the administration, so this is clearly right in his wheelhouse.

Hardly a profile in courage.

Former White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney on Thursday resigned from his post as the special envoy to Northern Ireland following the riot on the U.S. Capitol.

“I can’t stay here, not after yesterday,” Mulvaney said in an appearance on CNBC. “You can’t look at that yesterday and say I want to be a part of that in any way shape or form.”

Mulvaney is part of an exodus of Trump enablers now that they know they will be unemployed in 2 weeks.

Pathetic excuse for a man.

As I noted in another thread, though, I think that to avoid more national humiliation and as part of an agreement with Trump himself, the cabinet et al will effectively take away his power to do anything from today to the end of his term....with the threat that if he does anything not approved by them, they will invoke the 25th amendment.

At this stage eveyone who is left will be trying to muzzle him, because much of the GOP must be in a black rage over him losing them Georgia and exposing them for complicit and cynical fuckers they are with the attempted armed overthrow of government yesterday.

Other resignations:
  • John Costello, Commerce Dept, Deputy Asst Sec for Intel & Security
  • Tyler Goodspeed, White House Council on Economic Advisers Chair
  • Matthew Pottinger, White House Deputy Natl Sec Adviser

All these people 'resigning' because they have only 2 weeks more to work anyway.

It also will impede the transition.

If they had any balls, they would see it through and do what they can to assist the incoming administration.

But they are feckless cowards.

Hot and cold running sidelines.

It's gloat about the defections as proof of the farce and the cuss the resignations when the wrong people walk off, brand them as cowards.

Just because they were conservatives and served in the Trump Administration doesn't mean they couldn't be offended by the riot and attack on the Capitol.

That is the problem with the purely partisan critique of our government by partisans. Every single thing the opposition, or the opposition of Americans who are on the left more correctly, does is lambasted. The result is the voices criticizing the party in power become nullified both directions, since neither are ever credible sources of truth.

The problem with the deep division of America today is the absolutism and the polarization it has caused on the right and the left.

Both sets of pundits and their attendant media outlets are known liars and propagandists.

There simply isn't a credible source of news left or many voices who can be trusted to be honest.

I may not want Secretaries DeVos or Chao to be in office, but I have no credible or legitimate basis to allege or prove either are leaving out of purely selfish or cowardly motives. That's tantamount to saying they are undoubtedly tax cheats. It's mere carping.

Chao and Devos, the last surviving Secretaries of the original co-conspirators and enablers of the Trump Cabinet.

Now someone should wake up Ben Carson and see if he wants to resign.

Do you seriously think these people were actually going to do ANYTHING to help the transition? They would have only guaranteed no transitional help whatsoever. That's the Trump cabinet way.

Run, Elinore. Run!

The irony... the person in charge of mental health services in the Trump Administration has had enough...

SAMSHA Head Joins Rush for Exits From Trump Administration [MedPage]
Elinore McCance-Katz, MD, PhD, the assistant secretary for mental health and substance use, resigned on Thursday in response to the assault on the U.S. Capitol building on Wednesday afternoon. In that role, she headed the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.

"I cannot support language that results in incitement of violence and risks our very existence," McCance- Katz said in a press release -- presumably referring to President Trump's address to a crowd of Trump supporters urging them to march on the Capitol.
