Trump Staff Picks, Co-Conspirators and the Revolving Door of Departures

Re: Trump Staff Picks

I don't see the Trump Administration lasting one year, let alone four years based on how progressively deranged it is policy wise and just who it is made up of and has associated with. My only deep worry is they don't take us down and do grievous damage to the nation before the fall. Stuff like this doesn't provide comfort.

Re: Trump Staff Picks

Yes, they are very actively and pro-actively dismantling EVERY thing that has ever been special about being American. When all's said and done, will even Mexican restaurants be illegal? Who the fuck knows with these assholes?

If they get their way, this country will suck...sort of in a way that some place like Iran (or, dare I say, a certain country north of the 38th Parallel?) sucks, and seeing people dying on street corners from utter neglect will be commonplace.

No, it will just be like Mexico: the elite in their walled enclaves, and everyone else in the jungle.

There are always plenty of Mercedes limos winding their way through the bicycles and hand carts in developing countries.
The elite and their barnacles would happily let everyone outside their 'hood and their preferred holiday / shopping / entertainment destinations rot.

Re: Trump Staff Picks

Not surprising, alas. With the notable exceptions of James Mattis as Secretary of Defense and H.R. Mc Master as NSA(only because Michael Flynn had to leave in the disgrace of his shady activities)can't think of any truly meritorious, sensible picks in any key administration position. Even Elaine Chao is there only as a sop to her hubby, Senate Majority Leader Mitch Mc Connell... she was mediocre at best in her stint in the Bush cabinet and she's just basically a career insider/hack... not particularly competent but not controversial or agenda driven.

Re: Trump Staff Picks

And the head shaking picks continue with the Department of the Interior.

TrumpCo. is just looking at all of this as a huge giveaway to companies that are likely paying him off bigly.

It's past time for Congress to set down in law that cabinet positions which involve understanding science may beheld only by people who have not just a degree but have done actual work in a necessary field.

Re: Trump Staff Picks

Yay.

Another one of the Bannon/Flynn/Putin team is getting canned.

Sebastian Gorka is without a doubt, one of the creepiest and unqualified appointments that TrumpCo. made.

I guess that since the shadow Strategic Initiatives group has been more or less quashed with Bannon's demotion from the National Security Council, they have realized that having a far right wingnut terrorism 'expert' with ties to a shady Hungarian organization might not be necessary if this guy couldn't even get security clearance.

Buh Bye.

Fixed. :)

Members of the Historical Vitézi Rend use the lower case 'v' to designate their membership. He also wore a Vitézi Rend medal to some of the inaugural events. He has recently denied his membership in the organization.

To be fair, he does hold a PhD in Political Science from Corvinus University of Budapest. His past history of working for Viktor Orbán, the Prime Minister of Hungary whose autocratic leadership style, seems to be his primary qualification for working in the Trump administration. Well, and the comb-over.

This is the regulatory portion of government that our business falls under.

Vetting with no more than a simple google search should have immediately disqualified her.

In 2011, the Department of Justice’s Office of Special Counsel (OSC) concluded in a 118-page report (below) that Elaine Chao, along with numerous other Bush Administration officials used their government titles and authority illegally in partisan activity, breaking the Hatch Act in numerous ways. It is the same law FBI Director James Comey has been accused of violating in this year’s presidential election, with his untimely letters about Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.

Trump's so intellectually uncurious and lazy and without character it wouldn't matter that even a basic google search would give him all he would need to have dumped her. That's the saddest yet most infuriating thing.. not just regarding Trump either. People like Chao are so easily recycled from previous administrations because they have connections, not competence. And the vast majority of those Trump has put in key positions in his Administration are even worse because their own personal ideology and history often set up square agenda wise against the mission of their agencies.

Exactly. Democrats for partisan purposes and in bad faith, will demonize and deprecate all Republicans, so their criticisms will and should fall on deaf ears. The same principle as the boy who cried wolf.

Re: Trump Staff Picks

^ Bullshit.

Have you heard any criticism of Mattis?

The problem with this regime is that Bannon/Trump has gone out of its way to select some of the most unqualified people for cabinet...almost as a way of trolling the nation. Some of them, like Gorka from Breitbart were just downright dangerous choices.

We know that Trump had a cadre of Russian plants in his campaign....and a number of them got dragged into the West Wing in order to help Bannon blow up the government.

Fortunately one by one they are being pared away. And we're only 3 months in.

My prediction is that Trump is still going to end up having to change many other faces in his cabinet over the next 3 months as their breathtaking ignorance of their role and purpose of their Departments overwhelms the White House.

He doesn't do Google. He doesn't even do the internet.

Exactly what? I was saying that other than Mattis or Mc Master(and only him because Trump had to fire Flynn because he was making him look bad for choosing him in the first place) Trump's choices have been piss poor... so many of them have all out hostility towards the missions of the agencies they lead or have significant duties. Not bashing Republicans, not demonizing them. Just saying what's accurate. And most current Republican leaders, given the opportunity, would put similar people in those positions... it's just Donald Trump's phony populism talk when squared against the realities on the ground that make his choices particularly noxious.

Trump Taps Anti-Contraceptive Activist To Oversee Family Planning Program

Teresa Manning, an anti-abortion activist who has argued that “contraception doesn’t work,” to oversee a federal family planning program for low-income Americans.

Manning, a former lobbyist with the National Right to Life Committee and legislative analyst for the conservative Family Research Council, will serve as deputy assistant secretary for population affairs at the Department of Health and Human Services. The Office of Population Affairs administers the Title X program, which subsidizes contraception, Pap smears and other preventive health care services for 4 million low-income Americans, roughly half of whom are uninsured.
