^

[N]ever underestimate the fact that competence and following the law are traits that will always be punished by Donald Trump.

Poor Mitch. :-({|=

Chris Cillizza's analysis of McConnell's comments regarding Kirstjen Nielsen's untimely departure...

Mitch McConnell is getting sick of Donald Trump's bad nominees [CNN]
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell sent a very clear message to President Donald Trump on Thursday: Stop picking problematic nominees and asking us to confirm them...

..the message from McConnell to Trump is a politically astute one: These people you are nominating (or thinking about nominating) for jobs can't get confirmed.

Re: Trump Staff Picks and Revolving Door of Departures

^ And yet the Senate keeps confirming them.

Re: Trump Staff Picks and Revolving Door of Departures

^ Is Trump nominating people from his 'crime family'? That's what it seems like.

^ Is Trump nominating people from his 'crime family'? That's what it seems like.

Early on, there were some experienced, competent nominees that were being pushed by the "mainstream Republican party": McMaster, Mattis, Preibus. There were also some "fuck you" nominees: DeVos, Perry, Carson.

Now we're just stuck in "fuck you" nominee mode with the primary qualification being blind loyalty, fealty or abject stupidity.

Re: Trump Staff Picks and Revolving Door of Departures

If this is multiple choice, I'll go with option 3.

Or d) all of the above.

Re: Trump Staff Picks and Revolving Door of Departures

^ You didn't give me a 'd'. I had to do the best I could with what I was given. ;)

The description really bottomed-out with a mental 'ick', tho...

(I'm sorry, I swear, the opportunity was just ...perched, ready & waiting)

It was expected, but Rosenstein has finally submitted his resignation letter.

Perhaps his most memorable moment is as a wooden puppet standing in behind Barr, while Barr whitewashed the Mueller report findings.

One wonders if Rosenstein would have behaved like Trump's defense attorney if he had been elevated to AG and had been the one to summarize the report and release it to the country.

From Rod Rosenstein's resignation letter: :vomit:

As I submit my resignation effective on May 11, I am grateful to you for the opportunity to server; for the courtesy and humor you often dsiplay in our personal conversations; and for the goals you set in your inaugral address: patriotism, united, safety, education and prosperity, because "a nationa exists to service its citizens."

These tributes from the underlings always reminds me of a scene from Dune... "you are so beautiful, my Baron":

Another pundit hire...

Trump will nominate former campaign adviser Stephen Moore to Federal Reserve [CNN]
There are currently two vacancies on the seven-member Fed Board.

Former pizza executive and Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain is also under consideration.

Moore, a visiting fellow at the conservative Heritage Foundation, has been tough critic of the Fed. He's blamed the central bank for slowing the economy while touting Trump's policies, including in a recent Wall Street Journal editorial.

Even the bottom of the barrel is running dry.... this is a two-fer:

Trump Nominates Famous Idiot Stephen Moore to Federal Reserve Board [NY Mag]

Stephen Moore out of Fed contention [CNN]
Economic commentator Stephen Moore has withdrawn his name from consideration for a seat on the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, President Donald Trump tweeted on Thursday.
"Steve Moore, a great pro-growth economist and a truly fine person, has decided to withdraw from the Fed process. Steve won the battle of ideas including Tax Cuts and deregulation which have produced non-inflationary prosperity for all Americans. I've asked Steve to work with me toward future economic growth in our Country," Trump wrote of Moore, who served as a former 2016 campaign adviser...

The tweet ended rampant speculation about Moore's future after multiple Republican senators expressed growing doubts about his candidacy amid revelations about decades' worth of disparaging comments Moore has made about women, extensively reported on by CNN's KFILE.

Otting.Bible_.jpg

Joseph M. Otting was Trump's selection for Comptroller of the Currency. Mr Otting was the CEO of OneWest Bank which was founded by the Secretary of the Treasury, Steven Mnuchin. OneWest's successor, CIT had to pay $89 million to settle allegations of improper FHA loan processing. OneWest is also under investigation by SDNY for improper handling of consumer mortgage modifications after the 2008 mortgage crisis.

Another great choice for a government official who has responsibility for oversight of banks.

Of course, in spite of the concerns about appointing the fox to oversee the henhouse, he was confirmed by the Senate with 54 Yes votes (53 votes were from Republicans).

Since his confirmation to the OCC, his oversight of the banking industry (where he used to work) has come into question. In oversight hearings, he seems to get confused about whether he's the US Comptroller of the Currency or the CEO of OneWest- he says "we" whether he's talking about the OCC or the banking industry.

Otting: "I find that insulting that you would make that comment".
Warren: "Good!"

Longer (about 5 mins each) clips are here where he seems to be confused whether he's "we" the US OCC or "we" a CEO of a bank:

Birds of a feather...?

^ Indeed. Besides, nobody with a conscience would work for him, especially in the government.

Long-serving Trump aide DeStefano to depart White House [WaPo]
Johnny DeStefano, one of President Trump’s top advisers who served as a bridge between the Republican Party and the administration, is leaving the White House on Friday, according to officials familiar with his decision.

DeStefano — one of the last remaining aides from the start of the administration — was a key contributor to the administration’s political strategy during the 2018 midterms and ran the Office of Presidential Personnel in the early days of the administration, where he was responsible for staffing a large portion of the government during the turbulent early days of the Trump presidency.

"Last remaining aides from the start of the administration"... it's only been a little over two years!

Ben Carson. HUD Secretary.

Oreo? Amway? #-o

Why doesn't he know the answers? Oh....

Ben Carson Often Took Friday Afternoons Off to Fly to His Florida Mansion, HUD Secretary’s Schedule Reveals [Newsweek]
Ben Carson, the secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), often took Fridays off or shortened his workday, sometimes leaving early to travel to his multimillion-dollar home in Florida, according to newly obtained documents.

Carson's daily schedule from 2017, obtained through a lawsuit and provided to NBC News, shows that the Trump-appointed secretary only held senior staff meetings once a week and often had a limited Friday work schedule or left early to fly to his $4.3 million home in Palm Beach Gardens, in south Florida. The 8,700-square-foot house appears to be located next to a golf course.

Over a 31-week period, Carson reportedly worked traditional eight to nine-hour days about half of the Fridays. On five of them, he was off or had no appointments. He left before 2 p.m. for another five Fridays to fly to south Florida. Another six Fridays had no scheduled appointments past 3 p.m.

Re: Trump Staff Picks and Revolving Door of Departures

Shahira Knight, the head of the White House office that is the liaison between the WH and Congress, will be leaving later this summer. She has been rumored to say that she's leaving now while the good-paying consulting jobs for former Administration officials are still available.

First on CNN: Another top Trump aide to exit as legislative activity dries up [CNN]
President Donald Trump's point person on Capitol Hill, Shahira Knight, is leaving her post as multiple aides in the White House legislative affairs office and beyond eye the exits heading into a campaign season that will likely freeze legislative activity on both sides of the aisle...

Knight has warned legislative staff that now is the time to leave, a source familiar with her comments said, if they want to land the lucrative consulting jobs many ex-aides have hoped would be their reward for working in the White House. The reason: consulting firms and corporations may soon start to hold off on writing lavish paychecks to Trump-connected operatives until they see if the President will be reelected or if they will need to seek personnel connected to a new administration.
