After yesterday's verdicts, there was a high-level conference call from the Trump campaign where Republicans were given talking points to use today in their interviews.

What we've been hearing today from the usual suspects are those talking points, ('it was rigged", "this is Joe Biden's Justice Department", "It's political", et al).

Among the cult followers using the talking points is Franklin Graham, son of Billy Graham. Franklin Graham is a minister and he is the CEO of the evangelical charity, Samaritan's Purse, as well as the CEO of his father's not-for-profit, Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.

It's official: evangelicals leaders are now parroting verbatim the talking points from the Trump campaign.



It's unclear whether Graham's reference to "God" is the one up in the sky or the one down in Mar-A-Lago.

That discounts WHY Trump got elected the first time. Citizens are sick of being force-fed a diet of the lesser of two evils. Hillary Clinton was reheated leftovers, and at a time when the field had plenty of new talent eager to have a change.

The nation is sick of the Old Guard. Trump only won as None of the Above.

"The Nation" is not a powerless, hapless victim of circumstance. If there is no change in politics. That is entirely the fault of "the nation." Yet, the left whined and threw tantrums, and, as a consequence, subjected all of us to this nightmare we are still suffering from.

For everyone who is disgruntled, if you want change, fucking get off your couch and make it.

I recently had a disquieting thought: I believe Trump and the Republicans are planning a coup, where they will attempt to seize power no matter what the specific facts on the ground are. For them January 6 was a dress rehearsal, in that it showed what bases they hadn't covered. And I don't think they'll wait until January this time, maybe even make their move before the November elections. Whether they succeed might really come down to who the Military decides to support, and I don't think I have a good handle on that.

Your statement that Biden will partially be at fault assumes that there are up and coming Democratic candidates who could win the election if he stepped aside. Right now I don't see anyone who would be capable of putting together the winning coalition that Biden had in the 2020 election.

It’s a mystery to me but those who sold upon conviction must have thought that once President Trump would act in such a way as to boost the stock on a daily basis. He would at least try to funnel all executive branch communications thru Truth Social and nowhere else. Sounds loony to me but if not that what we’re they thinking?

I do believe his very public contempt of the court means the judge will have no recourse other than to give him actual time in a prison. There will simply be a secret service team stationed there for the job, but he can't be let off with some lame public service or home confinement as a billionaire. God knows, he's allergic to service of any kind. Probably won't play tennis solely for the reason it requires one to serve.

I would be shocked if Trump was sent to prison. This is still America and rich white guys only go to the pokey if they hurt other rich white guys.

I can’t speak to your brother but I am not afraid of a bunch of guys with guns who like to play army in the woods. Biden is competent, but he incessantly winces, scowls, peers, shuffles, and turns his body as if his neck vertebrae were fused.

It is a legitimate reason to not want him to represent a strong and powerful nation. We don't havve to have Arnold Schwartzenegger in the White Housse, but it's not too much to ask that our Commander in Chief not be decrepit. Even though Biden is competent today, there is every likelihood he will become incapacitated while in office if re-elected.

As for Nader, that is back to the same old game the Dems and Repubs pitch every damned election. Al Gore was never anyone's darling, now was Hillary Clinton, nor was Walter Mondale, nor was George H. W. Bush, nor was Gerald Ford, nor was Mike Pence, nor was Joe Biden. Vice-President Harris was one of the first to fall out of the Democratic primary due to lack or resonance.

And specifically, Al Gore was a scion of a senator, just as Mitt Romney was a scion, just as G. W. Bush was a scion, just as countless others have been. We're sick of political dynasties tradiing the White House like a prize in some poker game between Russian princes.

We don't want dynastic rulers. We don't want 2nd string players pushed forward by the parties because they've served as No. 2 to someone whom we DID want.

Biden could never have gotten elected on his own merits. He only got in because he ran against the worst president in living memory, far worse than Nixon, and Biden had the strings to pull in the DNC to sweep the stage and win. Even then, it was on the coattails of Obama.

If Biden/Harris is the best we can do, and Trump/Satan is the alternative, then maybe it's time for the system to finish collapsing.

Trump successfully tore apart the Republican Party and replaced it with his MAGATS which fed on the corpse of the GOP. It was rotten due to decades of increasing deafness as the nation moved on.

It's time for the Dems to have their own revolution. It has been a fragile coalition of the Social Justice Warriors, Jewish caucus, and promised tax reforms which never come. If they lose this time, I suspect they will find their own Day of Reckoning from within.

I remain an independent who has always voted Democrat or further left. I will continue to do so unless and until someone to the center is a nominee.
