The thing is, his supporters will just lap it up. Most of them don't know Powell....a huge number will just see him as a black man intruding on their whiteness....some will only regards him as a foreigner born of foreign parents and almost all of them will just see him as part of the 'Deep State' that denied Trump his rightful place in the White House.

Toad doesn't want a war, and he's never wanted the JOB of President.

What he does want is the TITLE of President, and all the attention and prestige that goes with it. He also needs the legal protections that come with the office.

If it takes a war, and/or overthrowing the government to get that plumb spot back, oh well! Merely collateral damage. So be it. He serious doesn't care what it takes to get what he wants.

His schtick is all about him, nothing more, nothing less. Those that realized that have manipulated him into doing whatever they wanted. If he was a smidge more competent himself, we'd be in far deeper trouble than we already are. One saving 'grace' is that he has a tendency to fuck up whatever he's trying to do. If he ever gets it up and running again....which I seriously am doubting.....it will fail....just like Parler and Gettr.

And I would be inclined to agree. His most recent pronouncements have backfired, even among Republicons....and he just isn't relevant to any of the national or world stage conversations now.

In order to get into the game again, he is going to have to announce his run for 2024.
