The IRS audit was alleged but never confirmed. It was also never clear whether any supposed audits were on Trump's personal return or his business returns.

There were rumors that Mnuchin was running interference on keeping Trump's information protected inside the Department of Treasury. It's unlikely that if there were an "audit", that it were assigned to an aggressive auditor.

Now that there has been a civil allegation that Trump was lying about the value of his assets, the next conclusion is that he was evading State-level property taxes. Once it's proved that he evaded State taxes, the next step is Federal taxes.

And if it is proven that he lied on mortgage and loan documents, which is a Federal offense, there is the possibility that the lenders can call in the loans.

Trump was just lying about audits. Fact is his fraud has been ignored for decades, would probably still be ignored if he'd never run for president. In that he's just like all the other white collar tax cheats out there.

If I tried that crap, thery'd be on me in a heartbeat, and I'd be in jail.

BTW don't expect the IRS to move quickly, if they do investigate it will have to move up through all the levels of the Treasury Department, then the DOJ, then the Grand Jury, then the trial. That's probably years away if it happens at all - and is not a guarantee of conviction.

And the very conservative 11th Circuit - 6 judges of the 11 were appointed by the Orange Jezus/Miss Lindsey/Moscow Mitch triumvirate - just undid Cannon's tortured ruling. One day after the appeal was filed by DOJ- that never happens. The per curiam ruling was written by 3 of the judges, 2 of whom were appointed by the unholy triumvirate.

Judge Raymond Dearie (the Special Master... the not-Putin Special Master) is also going to undo a lot of the mess... if the whole Special Master thing doesn't get undone in full by the Appeals Court.
