Trump this.

I don't think there will be charges until the Special Prosecutor delivers his slate of possible indictments. And then out of all of these, there will likely be a lot of back room negotiations with TrumpCo. because the US knows this looks bad for the country to be prosecuting a former president and that a lot of really sensitive information could lead to a much broader series of indictments that could paralyze the government.

sis has anybody ever told you you sure know how to fuck up a wet dream?

I swear to God, will the journalists ever just say that Trump is a cheat and a liar?

It's not like that would be news to anyone on the planet.

They won't.

Trump is how they all sell product.

They like to keep this shit going, because he draws eyeballs for hate watching or lust watching.

And there are really no journalists left in any of the MSM organizations that have complete editorial freedom. And most are now just trying to attract eyeballs to their own social media pages. Some will call him out...but then they automatically lose part of their audience. Better to just 'report' on what Justice and the PTB make of his lies and disgusting grift.

It's really frustrating that no one will just say what's just glaringly, fucking obvious. The reason so many idiots don't listen is that no one in the box will just say it.

I'm seriously fatigued with all the horse-race editing that goes on, if there isn't some great, nail-biting contest, the press will be hell-bent on creating one.

That is on Bill Clinton.

Until there is another contender that they can turn into a Trump the media will continue to use him as the main contender in any horse race. De Santis hasn't actually yet become that figure...partly because at the heart of it, he just isn't the same kind of showman and that is what the media and the people want in a race in order to keep alive the concept of politics as infotainment.

Let's be real about this: the only reason the media wants it is because the audience wants it. I know enough media people to know that it frustrates many of them no end.

And do bear in mind that when you're saying "the media," what you mean is the big TV and radio networks and their websites. Media outlets like Slate and The New Republic and The Atlantic and Mother Jones and Salon call Trump what he is every single day.

It's not the point of what they call him, and the "responsible outlets" are still there just like all the rest. It's still true that media, by whatever category you call that, sensationalizes because it has generally become tabloid-ized. People will watch news that isn't, but you get more profit if you play that game, and that isn't the fault of the public, or the journalists sometimes, it's the fault of the Corporation chasing profits.

You can blame Rupert if you want, but that has become a standard MO even in the pages of something like the Atlantic, which is better sometimes, but not always.

In regard to the toad specifically, the media - all of it, gave him probably billions of dollars of free advertising in the name of being "outraged" at his cray. They are entirely to blame for that.

Yes, I get what you're saying and I share the frustration, but ...

One can say that it's the fault of the corporations chasing profits, but blaming for-profit corporations for pursuing profits by giving viewers and listeners what they want is ... well, futile is as good a word as any.

As for Murdoch ... It may be futile to blame him for Trump (whom he has always despised -- it's just that he likes money more, and much of his audience identifies with Trump in a way they don't with most politicians), but we can blame Murdoch and the late, unlamented Limbaugh and their fellows for developing a business model that feeds the fearful and gullible untruths and distortions to keep them gulled, afraid, and riled up, in a cycle that just gets worse and worse.

A few years ago in Slate's comment section (probably the best one of any generalist news site, and quite actively moderated), someone wondered enviously why New Zealand seems to have such a healthy political culture compared to ours and Britain's, and a New Zealander answered that it's because Murdoch's News Corp. has no outlet there. And Canada certainly has some ugly right-wing media, but there's no News Corp. outlet there, either.

Fox has been the main cheerleader not only for the toad but for the insurrection as well. If Rupert truly hates Trump, one has a hard time seeing it, and if that's true it certainly had no bearing on the support and propaganda FOX provided.

Profit at the expense of ethics is indeed something to be blamed for pushing. People will buy heroin, but that does not mean that doctors are blameless for selling it indiscriminately in pursuit of profit.

All professions have ethical and professional standards, journalism in the past has lauded its place as the fourth estate, it they are now acting unethically or to the public detriment in pursuit of profit, they deserve the blame they get.

As I said (though I was far from the first one to make the observation -- in fact, I think it was someone who knows him personally in a professional capacity, and who wouldn't say it for attribution),

Rupert hates Trump.
But he likes money more.

Now that I think of it, I remember reports that Fox News was against the insurrection right after it happened, but that lasted about a week: they started losing viewers to Newsmax and One America Network, so they backtracked on that fast.

Just like most Republican Senators.

Federal District Court Judge Donald Middlebrooks on Thursday dropped the hammer on former President Donald Trump's attorneys by hitting them with sanctions totaling nearly $1 million for what he described as "misuse of the courts..."

..."Thirty-one individuals and entities were needlessly harmed in order to dishonestly advance a political narrative," he said. "A continuing pattern of misuse of the courts by Mr. Trump and his lawyers undermines the rule of law, portrays judges as partisans, and diverts resources from those who have suffered actual legal harm..."

:rotflmao:

MAKE THE LAWYERS PAY!!!!!!!!

Of course, Trump will just ignore the fine and direct the lawyers to appeal.

Thereby continuing to abuse the courts.

I'm not sure the nonsense will stop even when he dies.
