Trump this.

Not charging this particular ex-prez will lead to criminals battling each other to become President and thereby immunize themselves from prosecution.

It's really frustrating when people argue that this isn't exactly what's happening. There be no Kitara Revache, Kari Lake, Oz, that other asshole who lost in AZ, DeSantis, and a whole bunch of other liars and crooks without the example of the toad.

What he demonstrated is the Republican voter's willingness to tolerate any vile candidate plumbing the depths of unethical behavior including criminality, sedition, and very serious crimes like rape, so long as that person pushes White Nationalism.

It's also frustrating that the FF's designed the system to be glacially slow to act, but I have to say, I'd rather that, than a system that hands out immediate punishments.

We'll see.

I think at the highest levels of power, there is an agreement that charging a former president with federal crimes is a step too far for the Republic and that it could create a constitutional crisis, particularly because there are sitting members of congress and the wife of a Supreme Court Justice nakedly involved.

This is as much about China, Russia and other countries who would certainly seize on the crisis when the US is at its weakest.

This is about the real threat of an explosive civil revolt.

I have zero faith that any of the organizers will be charged in relation to the attempted coup.

I have no faith that TrumpCo. will ever face charges for the stolen docs because they are probably explosive in nature and involve foreign players.

I have no faith that Trump will ever face federal charges for tax evasion or wire fraud.

After McGonigal this past week, I am even more certain that the rot goes to the core of the FBI and that there are other people in powerful positions in the gathering and transmission of evidence who are also foreign run agents.

But come on Garland. Surprise me. You have less than 2 years to do it because the next Republican president will kill all of this in a heartbeat.

At this point, the 'pubs are going to sue, charge, and attempt to impeach no matter what. Before office, during, after, family members, friends, employees, it makes no difference. It's already happening in the House with its slate of utterly pointless revenge legislation. They will force us to suffer through the investigation of Hunter, more Hillary, the DNC chair, sitting Reps like AOC Omar, and others - there will be condemnation based on lies and fantasies and attempts to pass articles of impeachment.

People used to say that setting the precedent of convicting politicians was dangerous, but that argument is utterly moot. All the terrible things it warns against are already a reality.

Right down to Americans willingly complicit with foreign election interference. None of that is GOING to happen if we indict a bunch of them, it's already happened.

Time for some incarceration.

I hope this will happen.

But I have zero confidence now in the federal Justice Department bringin charges.

And I hope I am wrong.

The FED will move last as always. It will be Letitia James or one of the other State DA's who'll act first.

The FED always gloriously blazes a trail already beanten bare by everyone else.

Can you spot the real Donald Trump?

The rats skitter away while protesting they aren't skittering as they scamper.

Rat 1: "I'm still his lawyer - only I'm not! I'm not withdrawing - only I am!"

Rat 2: "I'm not a replacement I'm just a change!"

Donald Trump's go-to attorney Alina Habba and her law partner Michael Madaio are stepping down as the lead attorneys representing the ex-president in a pending rape lawsuit against him, court filings show...

Suddenly feeling a little chilly in the room now?

No one has a sweater.

I swear to god the difference a little financial punishment creates.

Plus, Eastman has lost his professor gig and is going to be disbarred.

The lunacy of Texas' bathroom bills has gone national.

Not to be outdone, Trump will personally be grabbing everyone by the genitals if he gets re-elected in 2024.

The immunization problem starts with that Nixon-era DOJ opinion that a President can't be Federally indicted while in office. For a the Federalist Society crowd in the Federal Courts who are "Originalists", there's no Executive exemption written in the Constitution, so they need to rule that unconstitutional.

A few months ago, I read some writer (I forget who) saying that prosecutors are very nervous about being the first to indict Trump, but once someone goes first, all the others will rush to the courthouse with their indictments.

This is just a blatant attempt to keep up with DeSantis. It only makes him look smaller and less relevant yet. He has no original ideas. The truth is that most of America doesn't care about transgender issues; its just a lightning rod for votes.

Exactly but it's like drinking poison and hoping to kill your enemy.

Ironic to read this because in my life I have known four people who are transgender. One has been a woman for many years and the other are currently in different stages of transitioning and now the irony - ALL THREE SETS OF THEIR VERY SUPPORTIVE PARENTS WHO ARE ALSO MY FRIENDS ARE REPUBLICAN! or maybe soon to be ex Republicans as they all hated trump and now THIS from his rival.

True, but ...

It's instructive to read this Nick Kristof column and then the reader comments. The relatively small slice of the country that really cares about trans-inclusive language is proportionally overrepresented in the poll from which the national media gets its staff. Especially younger people who aren't afraid to bully their bosses about it. So many people, very much including liberals, who are put off by things like Latinx and people who menstruate/people with vaginas, etc. don't encounter the terms much in their daily lives but see and hear them in the media all the time. (Note, in the reader comments, the anger of many women who feel like their womanhood is erased by terms like birthing people or lactating people or people with cervixes -- for the sake of what appears to them to be a tiny percentage of the population.)

I've long thought, like Kristof and others, that insisting on those terms (let alone shaming people for not liking them,) simply gives Republicans a big, effective baseball bat to beat us with -- letting them draw attention away from the fact that they have no policies at all other than cutting taxes on the rich, ending the New Deal and any other government help to the poor and middle class, and yelling at people they don't like.

On the TV the toad's golf courses in Scotland are being killed by Brexit.

...So much winning...

I am worried that vlad will "help" us again by picking a liberal third party independent that will please the far left crowd knowing it will split the vote to make room for trump or another one like him.

I am still shocked at how easily people were fooled by openly sexist propaganda. One of my favorite one liners .....If you don't own your shit it will own you

In other words if you are racist or sexist or homophobic or ageist or ________________(fill in the blank) you can be easily manipulated
