It is a startling number. And implies related fraudulent activity beyond just paying off a porn star.
 
The actual payment to the porn star is the part that isn't illegal. It's going to revolve around how the transaction was carried out somehow.

It may be that all the charges are not just for the toad.

It's also possible that there is evidence of something completely different.

The Republicans went after President Clinton over a much lesser offense. Now that the shoe is on the other foot, they are crying foul. They disgust me. I recall how Donald Trump relentlessly pushed the birther nonsense about President Obama. This is Karma.

The other side of that was that Democrats soft-pedaled the severity of what went on in the Clinton White House. To their credit, while there was a war room that was set up to counter every attack against Clinton, every day wasn't dialed up to level 11 like we're seeing with MAGA Republicans. I don't remember seeing a Democrat on cable news literally crying and telling people to send money to Clinton.

The Democratic statements have been very restrained and appropriate when it comes to Trump. "Rule of law". "Innocent until proven guilty".

My impression? Both parties know that Trump is fucked and this is just the first shot in the battle.

Some talk of tax fraud because he apparently tried to write it off. I don't get it though. Wouldn't Cohen have had to pay the tax? Unless he wrote it off as well.
 
I don't know anything about NY state tax law. I suppose if he wrote the payment to Cohen off as something false that might do it. Still doesn't get to 34 though.

The problem is we don't even know for sure that there are 34 counts. I'm hoping for felony fraud charges in some form. Something that gets beyond a fine and a slap on the wrist.

I saw something on the news that said there were 10 payments with 3-4 charges per payment.
