Trump this.

critics and CNN on-air and bts employees are enraged

But how many of them will go on the record and call Licht out for this? One has...but viewers deserve to hear the few people with integrity left at CNN say outright that Trump was given an exclusive platform and MAGA audience to allow him to spew lies for 90 minutes...thereby doing great damage to the credibility of the network as a whole.

And all the other news orgs need to roundly call out CNN for this disaster and make a vow to their viewers that they won't betray their trust this way.

I've watched 2 short clips - the one in which he trashed Carroll and one in which he went on and on about the 'rigged' election.

I don't know how all those critics managed to sit through the whole thing.

They get paid.

Condemnation has been pretty universal. As an aside, I saw an article about how one of the FOX heads accused the "Investigate Hunter" asshats in Congress of having no facts or crimes at all. Right to his face. It's like Bizarro World.

3/4 of a Billion dollars seems to go a long way. I guess they don't want to be paying off Hunter as well.

Well Chris Licht apparently loved how it turned out.

I suspect he may have lost more viewers than he'll gain, but let's see.

I agree. I think this will backfire on CNN. I've been a pretty loyal CNN viewer for a very long time, but I'm watching MSNBC a lot more than I used to these days.

CNN will not gain any new Reich wing viewers from this fiasco. But they've sure alienated a lot of their regular viewers with all this "both sides" bullshit they're into now. What happened to "facts first"? Lies and destructive propaganda do not qualify as a legitimate opposing viewpoint. You're supposed to call that shit out and refute it, not give it credibility and equal voice like it's an honest political "disagreement". Because, it is not.

Many audience members at CNN’s town hall with former President Donald Trump on Wednesday were “disgusted” and “bewildered” by the spectacle, but were told to be respectful and not to boo, according to a report. “The floor manager came out ahead of time and said, Please do not boo, please be respectful. You were allowed to applaud,” claimed Republican political consultant Matthew Bartlett...

So, two things, one, it was even more rigged than we thought, and two, CNN is desperately trying to backpedal.

Yeah, right CNN, claiming the Trogs were disgusted is not going to make you look any better, especially since you set up the con and foisted it on everyone.

^ Pretty much this.

I have a hard time accepting that a pro-Trump hand picked audience at this town hall was bewildered or disgusted.

I think he is talking about the rest of the world.

I only watched a few clips (mostly because I have seen this trainwreck enough). The short clips that I watched reminded me of those infomercials that are on in the US at 3AM, where the audience claps and smiles like a mix of paid actors and lobotomized mental patients. I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like it on "mainstream media" news.

One pundit described the "Town Hall" as a master-class for the rest of the Press on "what not to do" in handling Trump over the next, very long, 18 months.

From Keith Olberman:

By 10 PM last night CNN was back in last place in total audience and by 11PM three quarters of the Trump audience had vanished.

Chris Licht sold CNN’s soul, enraged his staff, and got...nothing.

Not even ratings.

I have to say, having Andy Vanderbilt Cooper scold his viewers for not appreciating what CNN had done really made me lose any lingering respect for him as well.

Now now. Having alternate viewpoints is an American tradition:

^ "I'm sorry. Never mind."

Oh, how I miss this dear, sweet lady and the talent which created her.

Along the lines of 'All that Trump Touches Dies'...Kaitlyn Collins was pegged to take Don Lemon's old nightime slot and I assume that part of this shit show was to set up a new viewing audience to follow her there.

Instead, her performance pleased no one. The few moderates watching were disgusted that she was unable to control the infomercial and the right wing only heard Trump call her a nasty person and then called out for her head on a stick.

And of course, per the dive in ratings on the night after, the 3.2 million viewers as a one time phenomenon can't easily be repeated by Licht. What else does he have now?

More Trump rallies?

He blew by going in too hot and too fast long before the 2024 race really starts. Trump's town hall pretty much has to be one and done. Certainly, after the disaster they mounted, Collins won't be able to moderate anything like this again and other candidates will be wary of Licht and CNN favouring Trump. Just like they did in 2016.

guess who's contemplating another defamation suite against the Donald :rotflmao:

Except that it must be hurtful...one of Trump's best weaknesses is not being able to keep his mouth shut.

I don't see she has much choice but to sue again. Otherwise, if it goes unchallenged, she will become part of his schtick routine at every speech and rally.

Which actually could present a real danger to her safety and certainly a battering ram to her own mental well being.
