As I've posted before ...

I think the key to Trump is that he's the hero to stupid and resentful people. He is unique because he's nakedly un-self-aware. Having no conscience, only a vast sense of entitlement where a conscience would be, he's not restrained by conventional feelings of self-respect or shame. He never spoils it for them by betraying any degree of self-doubt or humility or self-criticism. And he never does anything smart that might alienate his dumb base: he just plows ahead doing stuff like this, incriminating himself [with every rant he goes off on]. The kind of people who succeed in life without being born on third base, the kind of smart lawyer who works for the Dept. of Justice, can't really believe he's as stupid as he seems, and they are intimidated by the number of stupid and resentful people who have at last found their champion, a person not confined by ideas about decency that they've never quite understood and feel bullied by.

I am sure this judge relished every one of the 59 pages he wrote. But typically he just doesn't want to pay.

A federal court judge in New York on Wednesday denied Donald Trump's bid for a new trial on E. Jean Carroll's civil sexual assault and defamation claims against the former president.

In a 59-page ruling, U.S. District Court Judge Lewis Kaplan also denied Trump's request to reduce the $5 million in damages a jury awarded Carroll earlier this year.
