Trump this.

Editorial in WaPo from David Von Drehle:

Opinion: Trump’s big offense was being his awful self

...Trump was grandiose in expecting the world to assume the shape of his fevered imagination. Trump was mercurial, turning on former comrades while elevating crackpots as momentary whims and rages swept over him. Trump was reckless, allowing himself to be recorded as he pressured a Georgia official to “find” — translation: steal — enough votes to tip that state’s election to him. Trump was gullible, falling for kooky conspiracies and crackpot legal theories peddled by pillow salesmen, attention addicts and washed-up politicians with cheap dye jobs.

The list goes on, a reverse image of the Boy Scout Law. You know: A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, etc., etc., etc. Trump is mendacious, selfish, heedless, grandiose and all the rest. Always has been, always will be.

For almost half a century, American culture has been afflicted, or maybe it’s infected, by Donald Trump — a fame-sucking parasite with fangs sunk deep into our national artery of sensationalism. But the country is not entirely innocent in the relationship. We gave him the attention he sought; we bought into his self-created narrative of unmatched wealth and business acumen. You might say we aided and abetted him.

Actually, the Judge cautioned the Donald not to "influence a juror or try to threaten or bribe a witness or retaliate against anyone’ connected to the case". And, knowing the Donald's propensity for bombast, he'll have a hard time keeping his trap shut :rotflmao:

And you know he went right out and did some crime after the arraignment.

America absolutely aided and abetted...it is a country apparently addicted to fame for sake of fame alone.

But at the heart, Americans are no different than anyone else who either in individual relationships or en masse fall under the spell of toxic narcissists and psychopaths who understand that their rise to power relies on their success in casting and maintaining the spell.

The Guardian's piece on Trump being so diminished hits one true note. That without being able to see for themselves what is happening in the courtroom, it is like it won't exist.

Today and tomorrow, Trump will be back on Truth Social, on full blast and raising cash. Blustering and bombastic.

One has to wonder about the Donald's reaction to the Judge referring to him as "Mr. Trump" instead of his preferred "President Trump" :rotflmao:

another opinion on it...

This one is really resonating today.

Of course his culties are cheering him on...but there is a real sense of unease at this threat. But once again, I predict that while there will be judicial admonishment, there will be no consequences because it is purposefully broad and vague and open to interpretation. This is how he gets away with his mob boss style threats again and again over the years.

I hate to disagree with someone so fabulous, but that was neither broad nor vague. Toad was quite clear. He's not trying to be sly; he's acting out of fear.

OOPS.

I took it as being arguable in front of a judge that it is merely co-incidental. Unlike his diatribes directly naming Smith and others, this 'warning' could mean anyone anywhere. His strip mall lawyers can say that it could conceivably have been directed to his political opponents. Or to those in the press he believes are libeling him.

Even though the intent is clear to all of us, this is what he's done time and again when he skates right along the line. Unless the judge that warned him can determine that his intent is directed toward her, the prosecutors or potential jury members()...he just did exactly as I said he would do once he left the courtroom. Commit more crime.
