Trump this.

Can you imagine the scale of this when Trump steals the election and installs himself as permanent Fuhrer?

The most encouraging thing that I've seen is what the Democrats on the House are out doing multiple interviews about the Emoluments Report they just published. It's almost like they have a plan! Imagine that- Democrats with a strategy, a plan and actually sticking to the plan without bickering!

Now... if they can just do that for the next 11 months... but that might asking for too much.

The far left once again will be out whining that anything is better than a centrist. Being of the far left it pisses me off that there are fools to the left of me and fools to the right. Fools everywhere.

We're beyond arguing about universal single-payer. Those are arguments for a system not in crisis mode.

If Toad wins, he will try to end all progress that's been made and people will die and be prosecuted for politics. I don't care if Biden is 80 and has a stroke the next day. I don't care if he's not going to tax the super-rich, I don't care if he supports massive defense pork.

He's not going to end our democracy.

Toad will.

That is the only question that matters.

$7.8 million. Sorry to find that so laughable, but there is nothing else but to laugh when I think that our prime minister Justin Trudeau was once almost brought down over an undeclared pair of sunglasses that he was gifted while on vacation in the Caribbean a few years ago.

^ A bit of a difference, eh?

And if this were Biden and he had the same pair of sunglasses, FOX would be 24/7/365 covering sunglassgate.

The hypocrisy is mind bending...

And of course, unmentioned is that Jarhead got 2 billion dollars to play with in exchange for the state secrets TrumpCo. stole...but will NEVER be prosecuted successfully for....

Oh wait. Hunter Biden's laptop and payments to hookers.

They are after Hunter 'cause he has a big cock.

I'm laughing at myself, "Jarhead" is slang for Marine, I was sitting here momentarily wondering which Marine.

Alibababa says the quiet part out loud.

Brett Kavanaugh, the US supreme court justice, will “step up” for Donald Trump and help defeat attempts to remove the former president from the ballot in Colorado and Maine for inciting an insurrection, a Trump lawyer said...

I know she's a liar, but that is bad strategy even for her - she'll crow that the fix is in loud enough that she'll make it impossible for the Fratboy to deliver.

But is it a bad strategy?

Or is he just laying down the pre-determined outcome? and signalling to Trump supporters that he at least will allow any measures they choose to take to take the oval office. At least he is clear that he doesn' t think that Trump committed insurrection. We know that Thomas will vote the same because his wife was part of the insurrection. That is 2 of the majority.

That Trump's SC is more than ready and willing to to deliver the US to him in order to enable their own agenda?

He will make each and every one of them wealthy and powerful beyond their own greed and allow them to re-shape the US into a theologically conservative fascist state.

$7.8 million that they know about. When the Republicans took control in January, 2023, they told Trump's tax accounting firm that they didn't have to send any more documents, so the Democrats only got documents from the accounting firm for a couple of months at the end of 2022 since Trump kept it tied up in the courts for 3 years.

It's a bad strategy, if they say that loudly enough, they disincline any of the justices from doing what they want. They will have to see some gain by violating themselves in that fashion, and there is none from their perspective.

Toad isn't going to give anyone a single red cent, ever. Everyone knows this. They had but to look at Rudy a'swingin' in the wind for proof.

But a lot of Trump Cronies actually did make book during his reign.

And with the promise of an untrammeled kleptocracy ahead of them... there are a lot of them willing to gamble that this time ....it will be different...and they will lookm like rrrzzzn oligarchs after 4 years.

None of them are or ever were Toad partisans, it was the money that put them on the Heritage Foundation list, and McConnel who slipped the names to Toad.

Toad has proven bad for the money - who do not want to live in a Toad kingdom, and what the destabilization and rancor he brings will do to the markets.

Toad has the unwavering support of the horde, who are not the money, the justice system, or even the evangelicals - though a lot of them are in the horde. They may have thought they could use him last time, but they know as well as you do that there is no promise he will keep, no amount of bribe he will be loyal to, and no amount of sense he will listen to.

The cowards don't want him any more than you do.

The New York attorney general on Friday asked the judge who had overseen the civil fraud trial of Donald J. Trump to penalize the former president about $370 million, saying the trial had demonstrated that he had gained that amount through unlawful conduct..

Letitia James has put a price on fraud. Frankly, I'm waiting for Toad to complain that his take was much larger than that and how dare she suggest his fraud was trivial.

BOSTON (AP) — Five Republican and Democratic voters in Massachusetts have become the latest to challenge former President Donald Trump's eligibility to appear on the Republican primary election ballot, claiming he is ineligible to hold office because he encouraged and did little to stop the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol...

Next up, Massachusetts. It's kind of irritating that this has taken so long to be a thing. We've had four fucking years to explore this, and now it's too late for most places.

It was always ever going to be too late.

50% of the litigants likely hoped for him to stroke out or be convicted by some other jurisdiction or to be assassinated.

The cases have likely been stalled and delayed innumerable times by lawyers only interested in their per diems.

Once again, the US has viewed this either as a slam dunk or a bad joke.

And now here we are.

With the world literally holding our breath. Because we know the storm that is coming doesn't stop at US shores.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court said Friday it will decide whether former President Donald Trump can be kept off the ballot because of his efforts to overturn his 2020 election loss, inserting the court squarely in the 2024 presidential campaign...

Oh, here we go, everyone get ready to put on your outrage panties. I give it a clean toss up yea, or nay. Better odds on some version of yes, but no.

I can't beleive the liberal justices agreed to hear the case.

But they seem to have a desire to keep falling into the same trap with the Roberts court.

Kavanaugh has already signalled where the desicion will land.

The SC is once again going to assume more power for determining the outcome of the federal elections.

It was inevitable that they were going to take the case. They'll likely rule in a limited fashion affirming that States have the right to determine who can be on their ballots. They'll punt the larger question to Congress about whether an insurrectionist can run for office since there's a democratic (small "d") process in the 14th Amendment that says that Congress can permit insurrectionists to run for office.

The trap for this is Originalism. If they allow Trump to be the exception, they've pretty much undermined the smoke screen called "Originalism".... an academic theory (similar to Critical Race Theory much?) that has been turned into dogma by legal activists who disagreed with liberal decisions by the Courts in the mid-20th century.

It's a given that Trump is either going to have a stroke or end up in prison (or both) before November. The fun begins when the Republicans have a convict on the ballot in November.

History really doesn't support the idea that a buffoon like Trump is the danger. The danger is always the minions and the puppeteers that bring these morons to power.

There are guys like Atatürk and Orban who were academics who came to power under reform agendas who became autocrats once they got a taste of power. Most of the despotic leaders of the 20th century were like Mussolini (a petty criminal, deserter and failed socialist) or Hilter (dismal student, homeless failed artist, ex-convict) who were just figureheads for larger movements.

Behind Trump, there's a group of attorneys, consultants and strategists along with funding sources from evangelical billionaires and right-leaning PACs that are propelling Trump to office to exercise their agenda. We knew as much in 2016 when John Kasich said he was offered the VP role with the understanding that Kasich would be doing the "government stuff" while Trump went out and did his rallies and told the lies he tells.

What we're hearing from press reports is that the people on the Trump campaign have been threatening donors ("If you're not with us, you'll regret it when we're back in the White House") and holding the possibility of running as a third-party candidate over the RNC. Trump riles up the base but he's gotten into the lead because there's a group of people in his campaign who are running it like a Mafia operation.

Trump might have his petty grudges but he's not a planner or someone who has a strategy. The people with the strategy and the tactics- the guys like Steve Bannon, Roger Stone and Stephen Millers- and the billionaires like Phil Ruffin, Charles Kushner (who got a pardon from Trump), Woody Johnson, the Mercers - are the ones who are the architects of the Trump 2024 campaign. These are the people who are the real danger. They're trying to get Trump elected in order to get their wish lists fulfilled. Those wishlists are the real danger, not Trump.

I am not as confident as you. To the point you made about what the SC majority did with overturning Roe v. Wade, I have no problem seeing the cabal all doing what Kavanaugh has openly said he will do with the case...support Trump and rule even more broadly on the issue than the case merits.

The owners of the Justices are the very people you refer to above. The puppet masters propelling Trump toward victory in order to achieve their own agenda. We've seen how cheaply they can be purchased and without shame with Clarence Thomas. We can be 100% sure he will not recuse homself because his massas won't allow it.

I see the likelihood of the kind of completely cynical gymnastics that may in fact go toward redefining the 14th amendment under the cloak of originalism. That it was written and intended to only deal with the American Civil War...and that in the absence of actual federal charges and conviction, the states do not have the right to define 'insurrection' or to disallow someone to be struck from ballots in this way.

There is no trap here. The Roberts court will not be the first to make a mockery of the doctrine of Originalism. Scalia used to do it openly all the time. We know we have 2 in the bag before the case is even presented supporting Trump. The rest will fall into step.

But that is just my dark take on the nature of the US supreme court.
