I listened to the oral arguments. It always amazes me when reputable attorneys get up and twist themselves into a pretzel with specious legal theories they know ain't gonna fly.

I can understand why the Housewives of New Jersey attorney is representing Trump- it's better than defending DUIs and women getting divorces.

But why would someone with a (formerly) decent reputation and previously good resume defend the indefensible. The guy was just making up shit like, "A President could only be criminally charged after Congress convicts and removes him from office."
 
The chilling part is that they may do what has already happened in too many rulings about Trump so far.

To narrow the ruling and leave him with just enough room to use it to his advantage...if only to further delay and destroy more norms.

This phase ends today. God knows how many more delays and suits are ahead. For Trump, the main goal now is to prevent the judgement from being enforced before he can seize the presidency and then ignore the ruling entirely by becoming dictator.
