Sometimes, with this story, I am sure he is fully aware that they are barking out propaganda to stir hatred and rage and drive their vote in Ohio.

So it a type mental illness that manifests itself in malignant evil.

My theory is that as part of Trump's narcissistic collapse, he's unable to accept reality. In response, he's literally creating alternate facts. He didn't lose the popular election in 2016; it was because illegal immigrants voted. His crowds aren't small; it's the fake news media who aren't counting the "online attendees". He wasn't thrown out of the White House in 2020; the other side cheated.

Some of the behavior with the statistics is what we saw with Joe McCarthy in the 1950s where the number of Communists kept growing with each speech.

The Haitian immigrant story is an example of both the McCarthy and Trump problem. He probably cited the Springfield story to back up his "illegal immigration" claims but when he was confronted at the debate with the reality that the Springfield stories have no basis in reality, he fell back into his narcissistic behaviors. He doubled down. He made up stories about recorded 911 calls. He threw out numbers about 20,000 Haitians invading a town of 80,000. He made up stories about Haitians chasing down geese in the city's parks and eating them.

When faced with reality and facts, Trump is now creating his own alternate reality where he's right and everyone else is wrong.

His collapse seems to be taking a long, long time though. We have been hearing about it for so long...at least back to 2018 and certainly since 2021.

Certainly he continues to manifest all the signs of maligant narcissistic collapse, with his lust for revenge and trying to recast lies as truth and fantasy as fact.

But from my own experience with narcissists and fantasists, some appear to have had an understanding that they were lying...and took enjoyment from it...the power of making others believe the lie. That is what I sometimes sense from Trump, hence his desperate drive to amass absolute power as dictator. He had 4 years of being able to order everyone to repeat or believe the lies he told daily and of course he found that over a third of the country was willing to go along with him completely.

And I think some of his reflexive lying comes from what he learned from the third Reich, business school and of course by studying the regimes in Rzzia. That the most important thing is to sell and that the sell justifies the lie.

Of course the rrrZZianz then went the final step...to institutionalize lies in order to bring people to the point where they believe in nothing. TrumpCo. uses this playbook as well...Steve Bannon certainly understood it when he talked about 'flooding the zone with bullshit' in order to create so much uncertainty about the truth that the lies would succeed.

One of the other questions out there though...and maybe the bigger one to worry about...is what happens when over a third of the country also experiences narcissistic collapse if their cult leader loses. It happened in Germany post-war and left one half of the country able to be overtaken and beaten down by the fascist Stalin and the efforts of the west and the Marshall Plan to gradually restore social structure and a sense of normalcy in the other half. But I have heard my friends in West Germany say that it took decades in some instances to recover psychologically as a nation.

When I look at the relatively young age of real Trumpists, I wonder what happens to them?

The thing that is always a "tell" for me when I deal with narcissists is that nothing is ever their fault. At work, they drop the ball but then immediately start looking for someone to pin it on. One of my friends used to call it the "protection of the guilty and scapegoating of the innocent" phase of a project.

There was an interview with Mary Trump after the Nov 2020 election results came in where she predicted that it was about to get more dangerous because her uncle would never be able to accept that he was a "loser". She predicted his collapse and connected it to his election loss. The reason that it seems like it's lasting forever is that he has surrounded himself with people who tell him that he won the 2020 election and it was only because of election fraud that Biden was named the winner. His entire modus operandi now is to do anything and everything to prove he's a "winner" again.

The indictments and possible incarceration that are looming just put fuel on the bonfire of his vanities.

Are the young ones the Trumpists or just opportunists? The evangelical base that supports Trump came out of the Christian revival movements of the 70s and 80s- the hippies, Moral Majority, Prosperity Gospel misguided evangelicals. Most of them are over 50 and will die off in the next decade.

The stats coming out on the under 30 crowd shows a big trend toward old-school liberalism. Even among the evangelicals, the younger people are more focused on social justice Christianity and less on Nationalist Christianity.

Because MAGA is based upon grievances and it has no intellectual framework or underlying philosophy, it is going to take a while for it to fade from the Republican Party, even after the older generation dies off.

If there is a decisive loss for Trump in November, he won't have FOX or some of the other far right wing media spreading the Big Lie again because they saw what it has cost them since 2020.
But I think he will have Xitter to prop up and spread the fantasy for him...because it is also controlled by a pathological narcissist.

I also believe that if he loses, it will be incumbent on the courts to get him sentenced for the things he has been found guilty of and to get the other cases to trial as quickly as possible in order to provide an actual process for his followers to gradually disengage from him as a political leader. It is appalling that the justice system has been made his Bitch since 2020 because the US doesn't want anything to appear to be 'political' retribution.

It's not wise to assume that all of Toad's base are just crazy. There are plenty of those, but there re also a bunch of Trogs that know perfectly well what Toad is and don't care because he's presently doing what they want him to do. Namely the racist bullshit. They don't vote for him because they are deluded, nor will they give up if Toad loses. They'll just support some other racist.

The problem is that by and large a lot of these people have been and continue to be sneered at from both coasts, and it's become personal. It doesn't help that the Democrats have abandoned large swaths of territory in pursuit of people that already vote for them. The Trogs won't even think about voting for someone other than a 'Pub until the Democrats make some kind of effort to meet them on their own terms.

It's why I like that Mayor Pete goes on Faux and challenges what they're being told. Unfortunately, he's the wrong messenger to make inroads into their intractability. The Democrats need another guy who they'll listen to and isn't a minority person they already dismissed.

No matter how big the loss, this will not end until we address why it happened in the first place. If Toad's demographic continues to feel left out and dismissed by the Democrats, we'll just end up with another Toad.

The obly way I can see out of that is if the former 'Pubs that are anti Toad run a bunch of candidates that aren't Democrats and split the right fundamentally handing wins to the Democrats for the foreseeable future. Who knows, that also mught not even be possible at this point.

Although the sell-out by both parties of American industry to the second and third world as part of the globalization of capitalism has left wounds that will likely never be healed in the North until the Dems fully align themselves with a more robust support of domestic production and unionized workers again.

I despair of a centrist Republican party re-emerging from the ashes.

Once crazy has a hold on political parties, it takes a conflagration to actually put out the fire.

But that swing of the pendulum is usually so disruptive and destructive that it usually means millions of innocents are swept up as collateral damage.

We have a group of people who are mentally ill who walk among us.

They believe that Joe Biden is dead and there's an impersonator in the White House.

They believe JFK Jr is still alive.

They believe that Mother Teresa was a man and is Anthony Fauci's father.

They believe that the Deep State and Bill Gates are controlled by lizard people who kidnap children children in order to eat the children's adrenal glands.

Add to this the unhappy people who feel like their financial and social problems are somehow the fault of the government or, in some cases, the fault of the Democrats.
